This is a really nice, barely used and unsharpened Vintage or Antique Empire Winsted CT Barehead Jack Pocket Knife with a bail. The knife has a just barely used and unsharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. The front face has some very scattered light pitting and then etched lines of old rust that has since been cleaned away but leaving the shallow etched outline. The rear face has basically the same identical issues as the front face. Stamped on the front tang is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. The knife has a used and sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. Both faces have some light staining and just a few scattered very light pits. Stamped on the front tang is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. Both blades still have their excellent, hard and loud snap on open and close and hard half-stops just like when they left the factory. The knife has black Ebony wood scales in excellent plus condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three steel handle pins in each scale. The knife has squared polished steel bolsters and still has the original, and removeable, steel bail still attached to the knife. The liners are steel as well. The knife has two polished steel back springs and they’re free of any cracks or breaks and both springs continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. This great old vintage or antique, barely used and unsharpened, Empire Knife Company Barehead Jack Folding Pocket Knife is 3” in length and made between c.1855-1930 in Winsted, Connecticut.
