This is an Antique or Vintage EMPIRE WINSTED CT Sterling Silver Shadow Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, an Used and Sharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, Brightly Polished .925 Sterling Silver Handles with an Intricate Raised Design on Each Scale and Stamped Sterling, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 2 9/16” in Length, Made by the Empire Knife Co. Located in Winsted, Connecticut and Made Between c.1856-1930.
This is another Sterling Silver Empire Winsted CT Shadow Pen Pocket Knife with brightly polished .925 Sterling Silver handles. It has a lightly used and sharpened carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. The front face has some scattered light pitting mainly up the center line. The rear face has som scattered very light pitting along the top. Stamped on the front tang is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. The knife has a very lightly used and sharpened carbon steel pen secondary blade with a common nail pull. The front face has two larger clusters of light pitting and staining while the rear face is pretty clean. Stamped on the front tang is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. The spear blade has no snap on eith open or close although the blade moves freely. The pen blade is quiet on open but has a good snap on close. The knife has a beautiful set of brightly polished .925 Sterling Silver scales with a very intricate raised design with a vine and leaf motif. There’s a smooth oval area on both side etched in the front oval are the initial of CW which are also my last two initials. Both scales are stamped STERLING. Both scales are in good condition with only some incidental scratches. The liners are actually the scales on this knife. The knife has a single steel back spring with no cracks or breaks. It continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This vintage or antique .925 Sterling Silver Empire Winsted CT Shadow Pen Pocket knife was made in Winsted, Connecticut between c.1856-1930 and is 2 9/16” in length.
