This is an Antique or Vintage EMPIRE WINSTED CT Sterling Silver Shadow Pen Folding Pocket Knife with a Barely Touched and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Spear Point Main Blade with a Common Nail Pull, an Unused and Unsharpened Carbon Steel Pen Secondary Blade with a Common Nail Pull, Brightly Polished .925 Sterling Silver Handles with an Intricate Raised Design Around the Edges of Each Scale and Stamped Sterling, Two Sterling Silver Pins in Each Scale, a Single Steel Back Spring with No Cracks or Breaks, 2 5/16” in Length, Made by the Empire Knife Co. Located in Winsted, Connecticut and Made Between c.1856-1930.
This is another Sterling Silver Empire Winsted CT Shadow Pen Pocket Knife with brightly polished .925 Sterling Silver handles. It has a barely touched carbon steel spear point main blade with a common nail pull. The front face has just a small amount of light stains up near the blade tip. The rear face has a few scattered small clusters of micro-pits.Stamped on the front tang is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. The knife has an unused and unsharpened carbon steel nail file secondary blade with a common nail pull. One face has a vertical ridge and valley type file blade. The other face is just a flat surface that’s pretty well clean. There’s no sharpened edge on the blade. The top part of the blade is the fingernail cleaner. Stamped on the front tang is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. The spear blade has a light snap on open and an excellent snap on close. The file blade is pretty quiet on open and has a light “thump” on close. The knife has a beautiful set of brightly polished .925 Sterling Silver scales with a very intricate raised design around the edges of both scales. Both scales are stamped STERLING. Both scales are in great condition with no visible scratches or dings. There are two Sterling Silver handle pins in each scale. The liners are actually the scales on this knife. The knife has a single steel back spring with no cracks or breaks. It continues to perform the functions it was designed to perform. This vintage or antique .925 Sterling Silver Empire Winsted CT Shadow Pen Pocket knife was made in Winsted, Connecticut between c.1856-1930 and is 2 5/16” in length.
