This vintage or antique beautiful Empire Winsted CT Equal End Senator Pen Pocket Knife is absolutely in the best condition as any Empire I’ve ever seen. This knife was never used and best of all it was stored away somewhere in the perfect climate controlled environment for all these years. The only thing of note on all three cutting blades are some blade and liner scuffs and some polishing and handling scuffs. All three cutting blades are unused and still have their factory mirror polish and original factory edges. The knife has a carbon steel spear point main blade with a long nail pull. Next to it is one of the two carbon steel pen blades with a common nail pull. On the other end of the frame is the second of the two pen blades also with a common nail pull. Lastly is a carbon steel dual sided nail file, or manicure, blade. Each face has a standard vertical ridge and valley type nail file. The top portion of the blade is a fingernail cleaner. Stamped on the front tang of the two pen blades and the rear tangs of the spear and file blades is EMPIRE (over) WINSTED (over) CT. The knife has a gorgeous set of gnarly stag scales. They’re in perfect condition with no cracks, splits or missing chips. There are three nickel silver handle pins in each scale. It has brightly polished nickel silver single fluted rounded bolsters. The liners are polished brass. The knife has two polished steel back springs with no cracks or breaks and both continue to perform the functions they were designed to perform. I called this one near mint simply because of the blade and liner scuffs and some polishing and handling scuffs or scratches. I doubt you’ll ever find one much better than this one. This vintage or antique Empire Knife Co. 4-Blade Equal End Senator Pen Pocket knife was made in Winsted, Connecticut between c.1856-1930 and is 3 1/16” in length.
