Gerber Stainless Steel Paul Knife

BRAND:   Gerber

MAKER:  Gerber

PATTERN:   Gerber Paul Knife

DESIGNER: Paul Pohlmann LENGTH (Closed):   3’1/2”

HANDLES:   Stainless Steel

LOCK:   Rotating button lock

LINERS:   Stainless steel frame is the liner

TANG STAMPS:   GERBER / PORTLAND OR. 97223             Rear Stamp: PAUL / MODEL 2P PATENT #:   U.S. PAT. 3942249  Stamped on button.

CONDITION:   Excellent

DAMAGE:   Normal wear to handle and blade. Sharpening scratches on blade (see pictures).

BLADE WEAR:   Estimated less than 10%.

SNAP:   It has good snap, but what you hear is the snap of the button locking the blade in place. It's a little bit different than the snap of a slipjoint.

MADE IN:   Portland Oregon, U.S.A.

ADDITIONAL INFO:   The Gerber Paul knives were designed by Paul Pohlmann. They were made in the Portland Oregon, at the Gerber factory from 1977 to 1986. There was an additional Series II made in the late 1990s. The rights to the pattern were later acquired by Lone Wolf Knives they made a number of them with nice handle materials.

NOTES ON OPERATION: Push button all the way in and rotate the blade open. To Close, push the button all the way in and rotate the blade closed. If the button is not pushed all the way in the blade gets stiff especially when closing. I have another Paul knife and it has the same issue. I think it is part of the design, perhaps a design flaw. It does take a little practice to get proficient with this style of lock. But once you become proficient, they're very easy to use.
