ADDITIONAL INFO: I have been a fan of Brusletto knives since I was given one by a dear friend about 30 years ago. My Brusletto is a fish knife and it doesn't get used all year around, but it stays in my shop where I can grab it whenever I need a good sharp knife!
Norwegians have long been workers of steel, makers of knives and swords as well as fishermen and farmers. This knife comes with a beautiful gift box. The Kystkniven translates as “Coast Knife” from Norwegian. The box explains the origin of the design in the coastal towns and villages of Norway where they have a 1500 year old tradition of mining and producing scythes and sickles, axes and knives as well as other farming tools
The Kystkniven has what I find to be a rather clever design for a lanyard. The rope is knotted on the top of the handle and sets in a recess so it does not cause discomfort to the hand and it can be removed easily if one wishes simply by untying the knot. It has about a 3 foot lanyard with a brass snap swivel on the end that one can easily snap to their jacket or belt loop of their trousers if they are fishing from a boat, especially in rough waters. Having lost a few knives and cell phones overboard, I can certainly appreciate the utilitarian value of this lanyard but even more the overall beauty, simplicity and practicality of this design. The box has a little wear on it but it has protected the knife very well. This will be a nice addition to someone's collection or even better to their fishing or hunting gear.
