MARBLE'S GLADSTONE MICH USA # 9 BELT AXE- 1998-STEWART ERA REMAKE- 1085 FORGED STEEL-SUPER NICE !!!
Well folk's, back in 1898 it was named the Marble Safety Axe Co.,,, their main business was axes, when the Lauermans & Mike Stewart decided to create a remake of one of their axes, the # 9 was the obvious choice, their most poular selling belt axe of the time...its a fast handling axe, and had more leverage than their legendary Safety Axe to handle medium camp chores...Notice the handle, a "Goats Foot" style butt that allowed the user to hold the axe at the very bottom to maximize chopping power...
This # 9 Axe was faithfully re-produced by the Marble's staff with its pre-1911 flanged formed head !!! It has the look of the 19th century axe !!! They stamped it with their post-1912 Banner stamp...this was done so there was no mix up with the pre-1911 # 9 so there was no confusion for collectors with the vintage # 9
