Alcas Bicentennial Knife Set
According to my reference book there were 1,500 sets of these made by Alcas and sold by SMKW. Many Ebay sellers tell you these were made by Case, but I won't state that as fact. This set is serial # 1337 and come in their orignal walnut box. The knives have not been used or sharpened. HOWEVER both knives have spiders on the blades. The stag handled knife has a very minor one in the wings of the etch. The wooden handles knife has a major S shaped one and several smaller ones. The problem is if you remove them then you lose your factory etch. They are being sold as seen. It will be up to the buyer to determine what procedure to follow or leave them alone. These can be taken out though and the blade made to look new. About 5 1/4" clasp knivers.
Alcas was a partnership between ALCOA Aluminum and Case Cutlery located in Olean, New York. Alcoa, which is the world’s number one producer of alumina and aluminum formed Alcas in 1949 with another company, W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company. In 1972 Alcoa bought out CASE – and in 1982 Alcas became a privately held corporation.
