ADDITIONAL INFO: A friend, a young Marine veteran traded me this knife for a rare Gerber I had. I am not a Spyderco fan generally, but the Chinese influence on the design of this knife reminded me a great deal of my friend Al Mar’s designs. When I began researching Bob Lum and his knives I was surprised to find out he was born and raised on the Oregon coast and lived in Eugene Oregon until he passed away in 2007. We may have even met at the Oregon show in 2006 and 2007. It’s a small world and the knife aficionado community is fairly small, at least here in Oregon.
I carried this knife about five or six times, lightly and lovingly using it. I decided to stop using it because the arthritis in my hands prevents me from getting a good grasp on the knife and I know it’s only a matter of time before I drop it on concrete or something and damage the handle or blade. It is far too nice a knife to see that happen! I have to say that this knife along with Wayne Goddard/Spyderco collaboration have caused me to take a second look at Spyderco’s designs. This knife cuts very well, holds an edge very well, is comfortable to use, and the ascetics of this knife are extremely pleasing! I hope someone gets this knife that will enjoy the incredible design, pleasing ascetics and ergonomics, all courtesy of Bob Lum.
