Unique Italian Collini flylock automatic knife with rare pivoting bar locking mechanism
NOS Italian Collini flylock automatic knife. I first bought one of these back in the 1990s for $85.00. I have come across a few of these recently. Mint, never sharpened, never carried. Just like it left the factory. Thick spear point blade. “Rostfrei Patent” tang stamp. 7 7/8” open, 4 3/8” closed. This knife employs a unique lock and release mechanism. There are no holes or locking notches in the blade tang. A pivoting bar that rests along the back of the tang impedes movement of the blade until a sliding hook on the other end of their bar moves out of the way allowing it to pivot. The hook is moved by sliding the red button on the front of the knife towards yourself. Fires strong, locks up tight. Black plastic scales. Steel inner liner/frame. Also employs a unique kick spring hidden underneath the back scale that provides thrust for ejecting the blade and tension on the locking bar. Who ever thought this one up was a genius. The only similar mechanism I have seen is on the French “Saut Ouvert” and “Smash” automatic knives. If you like innovative mechanisms, this one is for you.
