Please Note: Orvet Customs is not taking orders at this time:

I am taking a vacation for a couple weeks. God willing I will be at the Oregon Knife Show (OKCA) April 12-14. If I have time I will open the store next week, if not it may even be the end of the month after my cataract surgery. Thank you all, Dale

ADDITIONAL INFO:                        I believe the old Schrade Cut Co number for this knife is S1354 1/4B. It originally had black celluloid handles that were shrinking and cracking. I dissembled the knife & cleaned it and replaced the black celluloid handles with black bone. When dying bone each piece has unique characteristics and color because of the varying density within each piece of bone, which affects the absorption of dye. The result is that no two pieces of bone are exactly the same color and you can see that in this knife. The pile side handle is darker but has some muted blue, gray and green tones in it. The front handle is lighter in color and when examined under a bright light it has some mottled grays, greens and even some brown coloration. They’re quite pretty really.

The tang is knurled to prevent your thumb from slipping up the blade edge, when using a reverse grip, and the tang is longer than one would expect. The extra length gives a good purchase for your thumb, on the knurling while using the spud to loosen the bark when grafting a bud into the stock. The spud is also used to open the cleft in the stock to insert the scion (the piece being grafted in).
