MARBLE'S # 4 GLADSTONE MICHIGAN SAFETY AXE- MSA CO COLLECTORS EDITION CUSTOM-1 OF 200 MADE-2003
Folk's, when the Lauermans & Mike Stewart decided to make a wood handle safety axe back in 1998 to celebrate 100 yrs of manufacture (1898-1998) it was no suprise that they choose the # 4 !!! The wood handle # 4 was only made from 1903-1910...8 yrs total...you can check any Marble's book ya have and it will state its the Rarest wood handle axe Marble made !!! This is a Hawk style head and in 1910 it was changed to a Michigan pattern head, and that only lasted a couple of yrs...the quality of this axe is impecable !!! When these axes were invented, they could be carried on the belt by simply opening up the swing out guard and hanging it on your side !!! This new #4 is an "Exact" replica of the vintage #4 except for the three hole handle attachment !!!
Webster Marble's favorite tie pin was a miniature Safety Axe. He not only was very proud of his invention, but because too Marble, an axe symbolized a woodsman. He thought axe's could preform most task's a knife could, and a whole lot more. This axe is what brought worldwde fame to W. L. Marble, and made the Marble Safety Axe Co. a household name. It also put Gladstone, Michigan, on the map forever in American Cutlery History !!!

This is the last year these axes were made at Marble's collectors, 2003...they made em from 1998-2003 in very small run numbers, this one being 1 of 200 Only that were made !!!
Marble's did not make a Safety Axe from 1959 till this was made in 1998, 39 yrs without the product that built the whole company !!! These axes that were made in 200, 300, piece runs are a very special piece to have Marble's collectors !!!
