MAKER: Union Cut Co
PATTERN: Fixed blade
BLADE LENGTH: 4”
HANDLE: Leather, fiber & brass rings
TANG STAMPS: UNION CUT CO/OLEAN NY Rear: KA-BAR –rear stamp is difficult to read, especially in the pictures.
CONDITION: Good to Very Good
DAMAGE: This knife has seen some use & abuse. There are pits in the blade & pommel (see pictures). There is also some deterioration of the last two fiber spacers at the pommel end.
BLADE WEAR: It is precisely 4” from the guard to the tip of the blade, so I think the blade is probably full length. I am not familiar with the old Union Cut Co knives, so I have no idea if there was more belly to the blade or not. It appear pretty full to me.
AGE: I have no idea, but I suspect from the 1930s, pre WWII.
MADE IN: U.S.A.
ADDITIONAL INFO: I do not know much about older Ka-Bar knives or the Union Cut Co. I have described this knife as best as I could. I think it is a knife worthy of collecting and I can tell from sharpening it that this is fine, fine old carbon steel. With a little care this knife will last another 75 years. So if you need a good hunting knife or a bird & trout knife, here is your chance; and it was made in the U.S.A. Sorry, no sheath.
