Webster Marble took a stock of about 100 axes to a trade show at Madision Square Garden in 1899. In only a few short yrs, Marble's axes could be found from Anartica to Africa & The Marble's Safety Axe Co. became a household name.
W.L. Marble's favorite tie pin was a miniature safety axe, not only because he was so proud of his unique invention, but because to Marble, axes could do everything a knife could do and a whole lot more.

Guard has the 2 indents on each side.. The guard works fantastic, half cock, in handle, and set on blade edge
Condition: This axe is unbelieveble for well over 100 yrs old !!! It is most certainly solidly between Good & Excellent Condition. The handle is almost perfect, heavily nickled, scales beautiful, head has staining as does the top of the handle. In the dark spots on the head and handle, you can see some minor surface pitting. Guard is great and stamp is clear. Supersize the pics for a close-up look What can ya say but it is solid from top to bottom. I would think with the proper cleaning it could almost become a museum piece.
Folk's, this is the 2nd Axe that was ever made by Marble's. It started being made in 1903 right when Marble changed their name from W.L. Marble Maker to The Marble Safety Axe Company. I am very proud to offer this piece of American history for someone to put in him/her's collection.
