Folk's, I got one for ya here that is truly "Unique" and possibly the Only one in exsistence !!! As you can see in my descriptions, I am very fond of Marble's knives and have been a collector of their products for decades, I try to give a history of their origin, inception, and how the pattern came about...this one is gonna be a challenge and all I can do is tell you the facts I have and let you draw your own conclusion from there ???

I have a Marble's Stag Damascus Steel Blade Fieldcraft, made in 2002 per spacer system, yet with the proper 1997-2001 Bobcat box and proper sheath for that peroid...

This I know: the knife was made by License by Dave Shirley of the Marble's Custom Shoppe LLC & Bowie Corporation...I spoke to Ex Owner of Marble's, Craig Lauerman, he said Dave was authorized to make some knives during this peroid, but, No Damascus blades were made at the Gladstone factory...I then spoke to Larry that was the Upper Penisula of Michigan Distributor for Dave's Bowie Corp. ...he told me Dave would send him sometimes one of the onesies or twosies of Custom knives that he made for Marble's...But...he did not send one of these and as he recalls, Dave made one or two with the Damascus blades, that the one you have may be the "Only" one ever made !!!

One of Dave's business cards was in the Bobcat box which will come along with it, and RIP Dave, as Mr Shirley passed away himself a couple yrs back !!!

I aqurired this knife at a auction in McBain, Michigan, right at the auctioneers house, he did a auction for a friend of his that his father passed away...his Mother had been buying 1-2 Marble's knives a year for his Dad that passed in 2005, it was time to sell off these knives...I won LoveLess Trail knives, Pilot Knife, Cententennial's, Ideal's,  ALL of them Rare and hard to find, this knife was among the ones I won that day, well worth the 400 mile rd trip drive for me !!! So, in closing on this knife's history, that is the best I can do !!!

Marble's Fieldcraft History: the Fieldcraft was a New pattern that come to pass during the Lauerman / Stewart Era of 1997-2001...it was designed to deliver more work per ounce of weight than any other knife on the open market !!! Its extra stout backspine allows you to put more pressure or force on the blade that is not attainable on a knife this size !!! It will make a great Compact yet heavy duty knife to add to your hunting & outdoor adventures !!!

This is the Marble's Stag Damascus Blade Fieldcraft

Knife is 7 3/4" OAL

Blade is 3 1/2"

Blade is Custom Damascus Steel

Blade is stamped: Marble's with their Banner stamp

Handle is gorgeous Genuine Stag, very nice Stag Bark with deep lines on both sides as well as the pommel

What a unique piece of Marble's history I have for ya all here folk's...Marble's Signature Series 2 Centennial knife, these knives were comminsioned 1 at a time, by order from Marble's...I know for a certain fact that Marble's was charged $100.00 per knife just for the artist to hand do the scrimshaw..

This knife is one of the crown jewel's in a Marble's collectors collection if their collection leans tword the rebirth peroid after Jim & Craig Lauerman purchased Marble's in 1994, and hired Mike Stewart in 1997 as VP and head of the Cutlery Divison of Marble's from 1997 - 2002

I am gonna try and list the attributes that this knife has going for it for the serious Marble's collector :

Special Signature Series 2 Centennial knife

Hand Scrimshawed of the old Marble's Moose & Goose equipment Logo

Handle of simulated Ivory formed from blocks one at a time

WL Marble hand wrote signiture on the blade

Special Brass pommel

American Walnut Display box with Michigan Birdseye Maple Lid

Original Marble's Leather sheath

Bobcat box with blade protector

Issue priced back in 1999 from Marble's was $650.00, SMKW has a Centennial on ebay right now, no scrimshaw, no wood display, believe they are asking $450.00

Blade is 4 3/4"

Blade is 52/100B High Carbon steel

This whole package is in Brand New, Mint style condition, stored away for 13 yrs, never carried or displayed

Folk's, I have a rare offering for Y'all here in the shape of a Marble's knife,, and I mean Rare !!! This knife has quite the history to it...In 1953, the Department of the Navy put out specs for a pilot survival knife because excisting knives were failing in the field....in 1954 Marble's made a few knives and sent them to the Navy for evaluation... Tested against 8 other knife outfits, Marble's knives fared so well the Navy sent out flyers that only knives made to Marbles Arms Corp specs were suitable for   service...the test knives were Marble's modified Experts...... On september 4th, 1957, a Navy rep came to Gladstone and Marble's agreed to give them 5000 knives & release the specs as to how the knives were  made...detailed blueprints if you will...the deal was they were to be field  tested 1st...Pilots scrambled to turn in their issued knives for the Marble Arms knives...all indications were with these knives allready field tested and prefered by pilots...that in the future, American Pilots would be  equipped with Marble's knives...Marble's bid on 30,000 knives was then given to Camillus because Marble's was deemed to big and the bid was to be given to a smaller business !!! Lied to...Cheated & Stolen from the goverment, Marble's then decided to sell their knives to sportsman...thats where we come to this knife offered today !!!

When they issued the 5000 knives, all the knives were "Blued"...After Jim & Craig Lauerman bought Marble's in 1994, they hired Mike Stewart as VP of the company to run the cutlery division...in 1997, they found a box of the Original blades at the factory... they were only able to salvage about 300 of the vintage blades...they found enough of the Original Brass Guards and Washers, but could not find any hex pommels or stacked leather washers...

This knife is Variation # 1 of 3 varaitions that were made

Wow folk's, what a scarce Marble's knife I have for ya here !!! Its the W.L. Marble / R.W. LoveLess approved Trail Knife with "stacked leather" scales !!! Stacked Leather was the "Prefered" handle material that Webster Marble fancied on all his big blade users !!! This knife was made in 2000 after a collaboration with Bob Loveless...as you know, Bob Loveless was the designer of the most famous drop point knife I feel in cutlery history...I have seen his drop points sell for upwards of $10,000 bucks in several venues...Mike Stewart & the Lauermans had to be super proud to have Bob put his name on the Sport 99's,,,and 2 versions of the famous Marble's Trailmakers, the Game Getter & this Loveless Trail knife they made with Stag & Leather handles....Bob readily admited he was as a young man a big fan of Webster Marble and his blade patterns, and fancied and owned several Marble Trailmakers,,liking their balance & feel....

The staff at Marble's asked Bob to design a "New" version that would mirror the balance & usefullness, thus the 9 1/4" trail knife with Drop Point blade was born....This knife has a thick, heavy tip, is very streamlined and is super fast in the hand....the blade is "full height" ground with a super heavy convex edge,, and,, the knife is "Very Streamlined"...the backspine is super thick, and only tapers at the point...this gives this design superior blade strength with a unique "forward of the guard" balance...Bob decided to leave the handle "Pure Webster Marble"

Very few knives on the open market today possess the combination of "strength" and "cutting power" of this Bob Loveless design...this knife has become one of the most usefull & collectible Marble's knives that they ever produced !!!

Folk's, what a knife I have for ya all here...its the seldom seen 1998 7 inch Marble's Trailmaker, and its Stag !!! These are incredible knives folk's, put up against any other knife of equal size, it will hang tough right there with em !!!

The blades are laser cut from solid bars of 5160 modified carbon steel, and are subjected to a complicated multi step process for hardness and temper....this super costly process removes all brittleness in the steel and gaurantees a super "edge holding" ability and also produces superior strength within the blade !!! These proceses are critical in the edge holding ability, as well as being able to tolerate side pressure strength in very tough chopping chores !!! Like I said folk's, this knife will hold its own with just about ny other knife on the market !!!

I have a very seldom seen Custom Marble's Stag Trailmaker for ya folk's...it was made in 1999 when the Lauermans / Stewart era at the Marble's Corp. was just starting to hit their stride with some of the very best knives that ever rolled out of the Gladstone factory !!! You see the 7 1/4" blade Trailmakers from time to time, but not with the 1 piece Stag handle and no pommel,,this is Gladstone Michigan Custom build all the way!!! I just attended the 4-25-15 Wolverine Knife show last weekend for a few hours before they were busy and open to the public,,, and "did not" see 1(one) Marble's knife new of any kind made from 1998-2008 at any of the dealers set up there, I was shocked to say the least at a 400 table show !!! This knife also comes with the western Loop style sheath that was only used on the early Trailmakers after the Lauermans purchased Marble's, quality all the way...the big blade Trailmakers were W.L.Marble's personal favorite, carried often in his timber crusing expeditions...guess we have the Lauermans & Mike Stewart to thank for bringing this pattern back, only taking it up a notch with the Custom handle !!! And what a chunk of Stag it is, would ya look at that knarly Stag, very, very deep grooves and character in the Stag, the "Best" I have ever had on this pattern knife !!!

This is the 1999 Marble's Custom Stag Trailmaker

Knife is 12 1/4" OAL

Blade is 7 1/4"

Condition: knife is brand new, never carried or used, "a few lite pepper spots tword the tip of the blade on the front side"

Knife is laser etched stamped: Marble's Gladstone Mi U.S.A. with the full Marble's address

Handle is a massive 1 piece of genuine Stag, nice mellow deep brown color on the bottom with good deep lines of stag bark all the way around the handle, alot of spots that look like candle dripping on em, just gorgeous stag, pretty hard to beat in my own opinion !!!

Blade is custom 5160 modified high carbon steel, 57 -59 Rockwell C...  .250 inch thick

Nice brass half guard / hilt finshed off with the Marble's spacer system showing made in 1999

Comes with the older western style Loop type holster sheath with Marble's stamping in the leather & keeper snap button, Original sheath to this knife

No box, as these era & size knives came in just a white carboard box with no marking

Folk's, I have a really unique knife that Marbles made app. 11 years ago for sale for ya all here....

This is the Marbles Cowboy knife. This knife was created by Marbles as an historical replica of some of the old west pattern knives of the 1800's. It is used in Cowboy shooting circles where they dress the peroid & compete in Cowboy action shooting compititions. Also used in alot of old west re-enactments. Very, very, unique design, coffin handle, like the old western bowies and kinda on the scarce side.

I have this knife in Stag handles,,,it was a Marble Plus knife club issue...I just had to get it in the field...Wow !!! what a surprise !!! Makes no matter if you are opening up a a deer, elk, etc. with the double hilt you would not believe how responsive this knife is !!! Guttin inside or opening up the cavity, or skinning the hide off, this knife is extremly well balanced and extremly user friendly !!! In my opinion, this knife for practical field use is the most underated Marble's knife they ever made, sales pitch be darned, just fact, a real sleeper here folk's !!!

When the Lauermans bought Marble's in 1994 folk's, they hired Mike Stewart to head their knife division. Webster Marble would be proud of the job they did restoring his company to glory as in decades past when they dominated the cutlery world !!! They then began an onslaught on very innovative new blade patterns like the Plainsman...this Stag on Stag version is simply gorgeous with well matched stag on both sides.....this knife was made in 2002, per the spacer markings, right in the old Gladstone factory

I have 2 of these Custom 2000 Special's left for sale...was lucky enough to get 7 of the 500 made !!

As allways, the one pictured is the one you will recieve !!!

Folk's back in 1904, Webster Marble designed and put his Special Hunting knife pattern into production...it was one of the few full exposed tang knives in the Marble lineup, most were full hidden tang designs, sadly, this pattern Marble knife only was made from 1904 - 1914...it was the victim of the Marble's Woodcraft that came out and was so well recieved around the world, the Special was dropped from the Marble's line of knives,,,also worth noting, a fact I dug up in one of Levines books, a very similar knife blade pattern was seen in the 1860's in old San Francisco, California, a knife pattern bulit by knife-smiths for wealthy Northern California hunters, maybe thats where W.L. Marble got his idea for his own Special ??? During Mike Stewart's tenure at Marble's, the Special was re-created both in full size as this knife,  and the Mini-Special Hunter...Thank the Lauermans folk's for making all these great knives happen !!! I once saw bout 6 yrs ago at a very extensive private Marble's collection auction I attended, a Special go for I believe was $3850.00 !!! This Special Hunting knife is a very heavily constructed & hefty knife, not to mention a  remarkable one with remarkable history over the years !!!

This is the Marble's Special Hunting Knife

This is truly an American Styled Bowie knife that will meet all big game chores that the North American continent can throw at it !!! In a letter written by Mike Stewart to a knife dealer I have purchased several Marble's knives from over the yrs,,this knife is 1 of 500 only made !!!

Knife is 9 5/8" OAL

Blade is 5 1/8" in length and made of 52/100 B modified carbon steel, 59-60 Rockwell C...this blade steel took several top prizes in the ABS sponsored World Cutting Championships !!!

Knife is stamped : Marble's Gladstone Mi. U.S.A. with the full Marble's address

Marble's also did something special for this knife, adding "red fiber" liners under the slab handles, never done on almost all their other knives !!! You can see them in enlarged pics

Handle is just gorgeous Genuine Buffalo Horn slabs, pinned with 3 large pins on both sides...deep lines and Super Impala Jigging on the horn slabs on both sides of this knife...blade is very heavy and .235 thousands thick !!! Knife handle has unique style to it, with a slight recess area for your 1st finger to cradle in topped off on the end with the old Marble trademark "Birds Beak" butt of the knife, ya gotta love it !!! All this together makes for a extremely well balanced, comfy knife for any and all field chores you run up on !!!

Folk's, the Ideal Hunting knife was Webster Marble's 1st attempt at knife making, and as it turned out, his most successful. Introduced to the world in 1899

This is Marble's 1st knife pattern. Prototyped in 1899 in the 1st versions, and by 1901, this Marble's Ideal pattern took America by storm !!! It was in the cockpit on the 1st trans-atlantic flight, carried by explorers worldwide on expeditions to every corner of the world !!! By the end of its 3rd decade of production, (1930) from Pole To Pole, around the globe, the Marble's Ideal was the hunting knife that by which all others were measured !!!

This is the Marble's Landmark series Ideal , Liberty Bell blade etch, 1 of 100 made !!! This knife has nice "Fat" genuine Stag scales...and its the Stag on Stag pattern, personally my favorite in any fixed blade knives, with Marble's, KA-BAR, Remington, being the leaders of old companies that used the stag-stag patterns the most.

Knife is 8 3/4" OAL

Blade is 4 1/4"

This is a half Guard / Hilt Ideal

Blade is Stamped: Marble's U.S.A. with their Banner stamp...this knife was made app. 2006

Blade is brushed finish high carbon. Ideals are 1st recognized by the Huge Fuller on each side. Heavy brass guard and the famous Marble's spacers.

It is handled in Genuine Stag, nice lines on both sides and the heft of the Fat Stag handle feels real good in the hand...Pommel is also Stag with very nice Stag bark all the way around, full  Stag on Stag pattern
