Got Whittlers ?

After a telephone tip from a secret Santa, I got this last week from the Case weekend, and I
wasn't even there. A call to the dealer in Bradford had this one at the post office today.
Best thing about this knife is, that it was
cheaper than free !!
By appying rule number three of the
ea42 Laws of Rationalization & Justification, this whittler cost less than the gas to go to Bradford and back. I therefore have
change left, to apply to my next purchase.
Thanks, Santa !

Great knife Fran!

When can we expect some cowboy carvings? Carvin Don has got me wanting to get back into it myself!

OOOOHH!!! AAAAAHHH!!!

Man, that's purty! I don't always like celluloid/pyremite handles, but those look so "earthy"!!
Beautiful pattern also, worth overlooking the "enthusiastic cleaning" in this case!
Looks nice and full!!

Thanks for the kind words, guys !
Smoke, if I do any carvin, it'll be a cane, not a cowboy.
Charlie, if those blades were any fuller, they wouldn't fit in the handle.

Fullness is next to Holiness; or something like that. (If anyone thinks that's blasphemous, I'll delete it, but I mean it in the best possible way

!)

Fran that's is a very nice addition to the Wolfertz clan! you'll have to make sure Eric doesn't hold you to whittlin an outhouse in your spare time.

Russell, the way Fran builds a hand hewn outhouse/bunker, I think he'd be better off with one of these

That would work Eric, that would shave the build time in half.

Nice hatchet, but I would worry about splinters with Fran building that outhouse

!!

Wow guys, thanks for the Law of Rationalization & Justification!
Given my distance from Bradford PA, I can justify some REALLY NICE knives!
According to Yahoo Maps it is 2695 miles to Bradford from my house........ X 2 for the return trip.................=5390 miles @ $4.00 per gal for gas..........................= $21,560!!!!
Now, if I can just get my wife to buy the Law of Rationalization & Justification!

so.....one size don't fit all?
is leaving the seat outside the door as bad as not putting the seat down?

Fran, you are really getting it in this one!!!
I'll bring it back to whittler's. Got some others in the pictures but figured what the heck. Check out the handles on the wharncliffe, it's a Utica. I will get better pictures of the front and back for you celluloid lovers!!!

Actually Jonet, that's exactly correct. We built this on the existing foundation behind the one room schoolhouse. Someone wisely saved the original seat in the school attic, which I copied for the new one, and photoed just before I installed it. The little hole was so the smaller kids didn't fall in. Just Thursday I received notice that our application for the historic register was accepted by the Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission. If our nomination is approved by the state presevation board at their October meeting, we will move forward to apply to the National Register of Historic Sites.
But...we've digressed from the thread ! ( imagine that ).
Doesn't anyone have serpentine whittlers to post ?
This is my first of this pattern, and what my photos don't show well is that the tang of the master blade is finished flush with the frame of the knife. The tangs of the two smaller blades only project about 1/32" or less, so at 3 - 1/4", this would have been a slick little package in the pocket.
And, Don ? If you think the handles are nice in the photos, you should see them in person. The orange areas are translucent, and the brass liners reflect through. The grey areas are a bit silver metallic, and look like clouds floating under the surface. Wow, if only the new acryics could match that !
Hey ! There you are. Thanks Mike. Ohhh.....I see more sample numbers.

I don't have many whittlers but here is one my Dad gave me.
He couldn't remember where he got it, but it looks like he carried it for a while.
