i have wanted one for quite a while. saw one on ebay that cought my eye so i sought smiling-knife's council. followed his advise(and worth every penny!)and bid but did not win. next he hooks me up to a sight where the very knife i wanted was for sale buffalo horn, brass bolsters, 4" closed and 3/8" thick, gonna be a great edc. came with a certificate and a nice box. 25 pounds($48) delivered to texas. trevor ablett, littlemesters of sheffield. hand made, high quality, and affordable.

Johnnie, that is a great lookin knife. I have never seen this brand before but I'll tell ya, it's very impressive lookin. Boy, they've got some great patterns too, uhhh ohhh.

I've admired Trevor's knives for sometime, so decided to order a 4'' w/ spear and lambsfoot, from S-K's link. It looked like a great deal, even if the price wasn't given in $. Unfortunately Google checkout says there is no such state as Pa., Penn., or Pennsylvania, in the U.S.

Apparently we've suceeded where all of the South failed, and seceded.

Thanks S-K, I'll get back to you if all else fails. I sent an email to the site, and got one back which said their email would be down for 4 days, and they'd reply ASAP.

I had the exact problem trying to buy kangaroo lace from Australia. After a week, and many emails, they found another way to make the sale.

You would think this was something that google check-out would fix, or maybe I need to move back to the U.S.

A couple of months ago I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Trevor Ablett & Reg Cooper in their Sheffield workshop. I spent about 2 hours just chatting, asking questions and admiring their work. These are two "mature" Sheffield Mesters who have shared a workshop facility for many years now and they're as enthusiastic about their work as a couple of youngsters. Not only that, they're both very busy filling orders for regulat clients who service markets across the world as well as direct customers who want custom work. At the moment it seems Australia can't get enough of TA's folders & RC's fixed blades.

The workshop is in the heart of the area of the old city where the famous 19C cutlery works were situated and some of those old works are still there. Not in great shape for the most part, but a few of these buildings are still up. It is, of course, rare to find a Little Mester still working in the traditional way, but a handful continue to thrive & the breed is not quite extinct. Their survival has been possible because of the quality of the knives they produce and the way they have nurtured a market for such products. That's us lot.

I came away with an invitation to pop in anytime and the feeling that I'd been chatting with a couple of new mates. Quite a privilege.

I know the exchange rate hits you lot at the moment, but these knives are also great value at the price.
