This pocket knife arrived very recently in a large group/lot of pocket knives that I bought. I did NOT purchase the group/lot to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it turned out to be a keeper. It is a MADE IN GERMANY, single blade, three tools (including a glass cutter), single tang stamp, 3 5/8" closed (not including the bail), all metal pocket knife. The tang stamp, what I can make out, says "? ERK CUTLERY CO - NEW-YORK - MADE IN GERMANY." Overall, it is in GOOD condition. If anyone can complete the tang stamp, because I can't, PLEASE let me know. It did require some cleaning.
I took some pictures and here it is.

Why were glass cutters so common on these German-made tools? Today, they are usually only seen on knives designed for first responders.

I have also wondered why the glass cutter blade? I do like them, and their unique purpose, but was glasswork that common in Europe when these were made? Or did it become a popular 'gimmick' to sell knives?
You don't see these knives every day, but I come across them enough to believe that a LOT of them were manufactured in the last century.
Perhaps someone more knowledgeable of German life during those years would know why these were fairly common.
Either way, I like the knife, and wish I knew the tang stamp. Keep 'em coming, Skip!

Nice Knife Skip ::tu:: ::tu::
Besides the neat glass cutter the corkscrew tool is more like a drill or auger bit than a wire type corkscrew. What would it’s purpose be? Would a glass cutter or window glazer need something to open his wine or dill a hole for window sash pinning ?
Thanks for the pics and info Skip.

This pocket knife arrived recently and became the most recent addition to this topic or thread and to my general pocket knife collection. It is an UNKNOWN, single blade, two tools (including a glass cutter), 3 5/8" closed, pocket knife. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the handles or scales are bakelite. If this pocket knife ever had a tang stamp(s) or any markings at all, it doesn't now. But, I have yet to see one of these glass cutter pocket knives that was NOT made in Germany. So, I'll say that there is a 99.999% that this pocket knife is from Germany. Overall, it is in pretty decent condition. I cleaned it up a bit, I took some pictures and here it is.

This pocket knife arrived very recently. It is a DIXON, single "blade" screwdriver with a cap lifter/bottle opener, three tools (a can opener, a corkscrew and a glass cutter), single tang stamp, 3 5/8" closed, all metal, except for the "tortoise" scales, pocket knife. It is also a cigar cutter. I believe that the notch in the "blade" (above the lifter/opener) is for opening cigar boxes. The tang stamp says "DIXON - CUTLERY Cᴏ̲ - GERMANY." Overall, it is in GOOD condition. It does need some cleaning, but I like it the way it is and I'm going to leave it alone. I took some pictures and here it is.

This pocket knife arrived recently. It is a MANOS, two blades, two tools (a corkscrew and a glass cutter), single tang stamp (on the secondary blade), 3 5/8" closed, all metal, except for the "tortoise" scales, pocket knife. It is also a cigar cutter. The tang stamp says "MANOS - CUTLERY Cᴏ̲ - GERMANY." Overall, it is in GOOD condition. It probably could be cleaned up, but I like the way it looks and I'm going to leave it alone. I took some pictures and here it is.

This pocket knife arrived recently. It is a UNITED, two blades, two tools (a corkscrew and a glass cutter), single tang stamp (on the secondary blade), 3 5/8" closed, all metal (except for the "tortoise" scales), pocket knife. It is also a cigar cutter. The tang stamp says "UNITED - CUTLERY Cᴏ̲ - GERMANY." The "GERMANY" is very low on the tang. Overall, it is in GOOD condition. It could be cleaned up a bit, but I like the way it looks and I'm going to leave it alone. I took some pictures and here it is.

Nice!

It appears nearly identical to the one marked "United". Must have been marketed under a lot of different names, or sold through several different import firms.

This pocket knife arrived very recently and it became the latest example for this topic or thread and for my collection. It is a GERMANY, single blade, two tools (a can opener and a glass cutter), three tang stamps, 3 5/8" closed (not including the bail), all metal pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp, what I can make out, reads "A - G & ? - PRODUCT" inside a rhombus. The main blade back tang stamp reads "GERMANY" The tang stamp on the glass cutter tool is just a plain symbol or logo (see the last picture) with no text. Overall, it is in GOOD condition. If anyone can complete the main blade front tang stamp, because I can't, PLEASE let me know. It did require some cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.
