Does anyone know anything about this knife?

Post by Ronin2925 »

Bought this at a flea market,no marks anywhere or manufacturers stamp. It is very good quality, very solid, and very very sharp.it weighs about 2-3 lbs,and is about a foot long when open.Couldnt pass it up,I love it,but can't find anything about it anywhere, one guy I talked to thought it may be indian,or Pakistani in origin.Just wondering if anyone has seen this knife before,or anything like it.

Hi Ronin, welcome to AAPK. If you like knives i hope you hang out here some. We learn from each other and it's most friendly & enjoyable.
I agree with the India/Pakistan possibilities and will add, China where a huge number of widely diverse knives are being made, some of which are high quality.
Your knife is vaguely a copy of an 1800's Sheffield fixed blade knife carried for 'self defense'. It might also have been made as a Lockback, i don't know.
You say it is well made which is good. The next most important thing is that it 'speaks' to you, you like it.
I find knives that i am instantly drawn to, i.e. they 'speak' to me, are ones that i never tire of.
Someone else more knowledgeable than i will be along and likely able to provide more specific info about this knife.

Looks like a poor copy of this knife;which is a so-so copy of an old English folding dirk.
