Welcome to AAPK! Nice knife! Case made these between 1962 and 1970. Will need to see a clear picture of the front side blade tang (with blade part way open so all the letters are visible) to give it a more specific date range. It may be marked CASE XX, or Case XX U.S.A. They were made again in the mid-70s as part of the stag sets but those versions had stainless steel blades, which yours does not, and had no wooden box. Best source for current value is eBay completed sales of the same knife.

If you will partially close the blade you should be able to see if there's anything written under the word "CASE" on the tang stamp.

Here's one of my 5172's that looks the same as your's. You should find XX stamped under CASE on the tang which would date it 1940-64.

looks like the tang case mark is for a Hunting/Fixed Blade Knives from 1940-1965 there is no xx on the tang

I believe if you turn the blade a certain way you could see at least the very top of the XX's under the Case on the tang. They are really hard to see on these 1st models..billybobwood wrote:looks like the tang case mark is for a Hunting/Fixed Blade Knives from 1940-1965 there is no xx on the tang
