Getting rust or tarnish off a pocket knife
Getting rust or tarnish off a pocket knife
Sorry if this has been discussed before. I just found my late fathers Swiss Army knife mountain Guide edition and while he collected a lot of knives this one is my favorite. The problem is it wasn't kept in very good condition and has lots of what appear to be rust spots. Any tips on how to restore it to better condition if possible? Thanks for any help !

Here's a link to a "how to" thread that's usually referenced when this question is asked http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... 38&t=47909
Welcome to AAPK, and good luck with your father's knife. Just remember, patience and good old elbow grease is key. Slow and easy, avoid the temptation to be too aggressive or use power machinery. Think about how far you want to go with the process - do you want it to retain the "character" of your dad 's use (just get the active rust off and clean out the dirt), or do you want it to look all shiney like a knew unused knife? Let the answer be your guide.
