Levine lists that pattern in excellent, unsharpened condition for $140.00 and makes no distinction re' the color of ink.

I don't think I've ever seen one that did not have cracked handles from shrinkage and if one does exist, it will crack sooner or later.

Ebay regularly has knives listed at prices many times their actual value. This OP knife is listed at about 250 x it's value. I believe that sellers who do this are unscrupulous dishonest people who are fishing for an elderly mildly demented individual who has money. In essence it is theft.
I think those of us who are somewhat knife knowledgeable have a moral duty to message the seller and confront him with his crooked ways.
Note: i am not referring to sellers who list a knife far too high because they truly believe their old knife is valuable. How to tell the difference is a judgement call. This O.P. knife which was low low end to begin with, for $25,000 is clearly in the crooked seller class.

I sent him a message about the probable value of the knife and that no serious collector would pay his asking price.

He wrote back, "I'm only interested in serious bidders".

That tells you what his motives are.

I would be absolutely floored if someone ever bought that worn and deteriorating thing for 25 grand, I wouldn't buy it for 5 bucks!

I've seen whole die-cut display counter boards with twelve of those that wasn't worth a tenth of that asking price.

He's not interested in "serious bidders", he's seeking a stupid, but very deeply pocketed bidder to whom $25,000.00 means virtually nothing.

He's looking for a "Kim Kardashian" that will buy it for her "Kanye", meaning no offense to either.
