can opener

Post by blademaker »

I've had a few scouts in my pocket lately and was wondering how this thing works? I've tried to no success. I came across a thread a few years back, can't find it, even then I couldnt figure this tool out. Did they make cans different back in the day? ::dang::

It is most easily used if you are right handed.I'm left handed and have a bit of a problem using one. Take the knife in your right hand and insert the point of the blade into the top of the can as close as possible to the edge until the bent part contacts the rim.Using the rim as a fulcrum, rock the knife toward you cutting the top of the can.Slide the knife forward until it contacts the lid and repeat the process until you are all the way around. Most people stop just shy of cutting completely through the lid and bend it up. Pour the contents of the can out and flip the lid back down and discard.
