Vintage Imperial Knife

Post by reeltooth »

This knife belonged to my grandfather. It can be dated between 1946-1956 from stamp. Can anyone tell me anything else about it from the pictures? Is it collectable?

Thanks,

gerald

It's a shell handled knife. Near the end of each handle you'll see little fold over tabs. The handled is made of light metal or tin and set on the frame and held in place by the tabs.

The shape is commonly known as "toothpick" or "fish knife."

Not all that collectible.....BUT if that was my grandads I wouldn't part with it until I died. ::nod::

Keep it and pass it on to your kids. ::tu::

My grandfather's knife is a Kamp King shell handled utility knife and there isn't enough money in the world to buy that knife. It was the first knife to cut me at the age of eight(I'm slightly older now)and I am still wary when opening it because it snaps like a bear trap and still is razor sharp. There are more memories associated with that knife than I can name.
