Not pretty but it's mine. Also have questions.

Post by JWheeler331 »

This one was in my grandpa's things when he passed. He always carried a Case in his pocket but had this and about four Kamp Kings in a tool bag that he had for his CB radios and things.

It's not pretty and has a broken blade but I wouldn't take nothing for it.

Do have a couple questions. Who actually made this knife?

I'm not sure if I want to leave it as is or give it new life and fix the broken blade button don't know much about it.

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah buddy......I wouldn't trade it or sell it for nothin' either! ::nod::

That's probably a COLONIAL made knife. They made a lot of those plastic handled Barlows some with aadvertising on them. Search ebay for COLONIAL USA BARLOW.....you'll see.

I'm just a sentimental old fool. If it belonged to my granddad, I'd leave it just the way it is, warts and all.

Thanks for the answers. I was leaning heavily towards leaving it as is also. Just figured I'd get some other opinions.

Kamp King was a trademark used by Imperial.

Yeah, I could see the Imperial on one of the blades of the Kamp King knives. They are pretty rough also.

Some of the blades are still pretty sharp. My finger has the proof, trying to open these old hard to open blades that have not been opened in many years.

I too would leave it as is. It will remind you of how often he used it. Pretty sure Scott is right, looks to be a Colonial brand from here.

Leave them as they are, then you can see them or use them just as he did. JMO

My opinion - No doubt leave it as is... Sentimental value is much more valuable than anything to me... and leavings things as is would be part of it - just as he used it.. I have some of my grandfather's old farm tools.. Still use them as is and think about him when I do...
