This is not a counterfeit knife but rather a German reproduction that is often passed off as being original. These are all cataloged and pictured in the Dewey & Lavona Ferguson Romance of Knife Collecting books. According to them this knife was made in 1971 and they sold for $5 - $13 each when new. You can spot these instantly by looking at the location of the rear pin (note the word here near the pin) . It is not centered as the pin is on an original knife. These have an original looking tang stamp and were marked with the word German on them, but that could be wiped off with solvent. Though a reproduction these tend to retain a good resale value and are sought after. Just don't be duped into believing they are originals.
