Buck ?

Post by 0078 »

I bought this 313, my question would be when did the put the model number on the reverse of the tang stamp? There are no date codes on the front of the tang stamp. Any information would be much appreciated.

That is one of the 300 series contract knives made by Camillus for Buck. Earlier ones have the model numbers on the back of the blades, newer ones on the front. Each model has it's own start/stop date - but the series was offered roughly from 1970 to 1985; Buck discontinued most, but took the most popular in-house. The in-house models were the first to have date codes and the construction varied over time. OH

Ps I like that particular model - the blades nestle very low in the frame - feels like a much smaller knife in the pocket.
