I may have put this on the wrong forum so I'll try it here. Looking for information on this stag handled bowie a friend owns. He wanted a new sheath made since the old one is damaged. It has a circle with what looks like a lamb holding a flag? under that is Solingen, on the left ricasso. The other side has "made in Germany" and Luckhaus & Gunther. It is about 10 3/8" long with a 6 inch blade with saw cut spine. The stag handles have black, yellow , and black spacers and it has a cast alum. lions head on the butt. I believe he bought this in the 60's. Just wondering if anyone knows about the company history. thanks, Terry

I seem to have stumped the "experts" on the Luckhaus & Gunther knife. I have been looking on the web and did come up with the trademark, it's called a "Lamb of God", so the lamb is holding a cross not a flag. They did make swords from 1850-1900 and sold some to the Cubans. This knife is of course not that old. I did find a antique bowie on the Antique Arms web page with the L&G logo , but there again it is an older knife. Thanks WLF for your response,. Terry

Ah patience grasshoppa!
Luckhaus and Gunther were exporters based in Remscheid Germany.
The Agnus Dei trademark..."Lamb of God" was registered in 1895.
They exported steelware to Cuba and South America into the 1940s.
After 1939 they downsized from a dozen trademarks to only two.
Agnus Dei and Marca Cruz.

thanks Tim, learning a little more everyday! I see by your sign off that you are a "stagaholic", I'm one myself and use it a lot in my hand made fixed blades, although it is getting really high priced. Terry
