I'm looking for how to figure the date out of one I picked up today, It's got a christmas tree pattern and its 1776-1976 Bicentennial. Any info about these knives would be great help.

hey their bud!.. good to meet ya
i love those knives.. they are what is called pre 82 fightn rooster IE-made before or during 1982..although like all production knives their are exceptions.
if you did some reading you would find the Frank Buster started Fight"n Rooster in 1975 roughly..i dont know the exact date.
this one dates to the year 1976 though. and 600 of each were made.... if you have a pic i could tell you exactly which xmas tree cell it was...as he used a few.
pic would rock.
hope this finds you well.

A book that I have enjoyed is Jim Parker's Fight'n Rooster Knives Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow.

Looks like that one has been outgassing, better separate from your other knives.
