Greg, what do you think? Is this a fake? Looks cleaned.

For what my opinion is worth, it is hard to believe the mop hasn't been replaced, but the dirty springs would lead me to believe that it hasn't been apart. Either it's been in a sock drawer for the last 90 years or its questionable.

Other than being buffed out I think it looks pretty good.

FWIW:At first I thought it might be a fake due to the look of the tang stamp in a couple of the closeup shots. It almost appears that the letters were the work of a pantograph rather than a stamp. However that may just be light reflection. If you look into the ends of each letter stroke,it looks like a little circle where the pantograph cutter stopped and reversed direction. It usually cuts slightly deeper at the end of a stroke.
But looking at the rest of the outside;the handle material looks right for old pearl;the rivets seem to be correct and the fit to the bolsters is superb.Blades have probably been polished but all in all I would say it is a good one.

I agree I think it is a nice knife, cleaned. I just did not know what Greg was saying. I even like the stamp
a little ragged but ok.
