Could anyone please tell me anything about this knife and what is the value of it.
I obtained it in an auction that was found in cabinet behind the drawer.

Would need a picture of the tang and the closed length to be for sure but it looks like one of the prototype canoes that Jim Parker had made in the the 90's. They were lockbacks. There were 30 or 40 different handle materials that were made in small quantities of 2 to 9 knives each. I believe they were made in 2 different sizes. Hope this helps some.

Can't find any lock back Canoes in the Price & Zalesky's 15th Edition (2008) book, guess it would have to be post-1987?

I have seen several for sale over the last year. All said to be third generation prototypes. I think Jim's son was selling then.

The box has ""Chattanooga,Tn."" address stamp --- similar to the "'Parker "" knives *** --- further research says they have a new owner and may be Asian Import ???

I am not aware of any new owners for Bulldog Brand Knife co. Looking at the Links posted this would be my take. Billie Parker was Jim Parker's wife. When Parker acquired Bulldog Brand he put the company in his wife's name as he was emerging from this bankruptcy when he owned CASE.
As far as the box goes Parker was the 1st one to put Bulldog Brand Knives in Boxes. The 1st generation knives that Charlie Dorton had made never came in boxes. The Tn. address I would assume is the address of Parker Knife Collector Services which distributed Bulldogs beginning around 1991.
I am 99% sure that the knife in the post was made in Germany around 1993. The box would be correct.
That being said someone posted some strange looking Bulldogs on here recently that did appear to have an Asian Flavor but I am not aware of any new knives being made at present so can't really say. As far as I know Ed Henley and Buzz Parker are still in charge of the Bulldog Knives.
Hope this helps.

The thought of Bulldog going Asian is a little disturbing. Thanks for your input, Tom, I figure you would know before I did. I've never seen a lock-back canoe before but will be looking now.

BKC 553 thru 578 were all lockback canoes. They were made in both 3 1/2 and 4 1/2" lengths. They are realitively common. Nice well built knives but most all were celluloid and had a tendency to gas.

I am not sure but that looks a lot like a Case copperlock which I think also come out in the 90s which is when Parker owned Case and Bulldog but I could be wrong I sure have before.
