hello, a friend wanted me to ask everyone about a knife that was in a box of "stuff" he bought. the back spring was broken and the blade flops in and out. i know its subjective but he is looking for some guidance. his questions are:
can it be repaired?
is it worth being repaired?
cost of repair?

thanks in advance for any information anyone can provide,
roofsc

Looks like a Wehrmacht or early Bundeswehr (german forces after 1945) paratrooper knife to me. Those knives are very rare and sought after by military collectors. Too bad they aren´t legal too.

edit: Maker is Stöcker & Co. Solingen, Germany and it seems to be a Luftwaffe Bordmesser from WWII.

Take a look here: http://www.snyderstreasures.net/pages/germanknives.htm

Solingen Metal Warenfabrik maker. WW2 vintage. Non-takedown (earlier) model.
They can be repaired, but it is difficult and expensive. I believe the knife is valuable enough to warrant repair.
