The Chase Is Over

I was finally able to find my minty NIB Victorinox Mauser. It was love at first site but every time one would come available I would miss it by 'this' much. I thought I was going to miss this one because of A/C trouble but the guy worked with me. So without further ado....

Very nice knife Tank! I never saw one of those. Do you know anything about how they were marketed? I am wondering if they gave one with a gun purchase or something?

Thanks guys! I love the chase and the catch.
I'm after the Mauser with File/Match-Striker (rev.2 of the saw/opener tool) now.
Bret, this model was marketed alongside the guns by Mauser of Germany and came with unique packaging that included booklet identifying the tools in several languages. The knife was based on the original GAK, and was produced between roughly 1984 to 2001. Victorinox estimates production at 1/4 million units.

It's great to find the one you're hunting for and I'm pleased for you. We all probably know that feeling. But, as usual, there's always the next one you want. It's either lurking just out of sight or casting a flickering shadow at the edge of your field of vision.
What is the loose tool just below the booklet in the pic?

You nailed it, David. That's what makes it fun and sometimes frustrating.
The piece laying loose is a guard that snaps over the saw blade to protect you while using the can opener/screwdriiver and the saw teeth when in storage.
Here it is in place.
