I just obtained an Old Dominion Knife Collector 1985 club knife, a Bulldog stag 3 blade trapper. 1985 would make it first generation.

I like the looks of that. Was expecting to see the 3-blade one they recently had GEC do for them. That looks peanut size. Is it?

Thanks. I don't have the knife with me right now, but it is about 4", maybe 4 1/8" long.

That is the new style trapper frame, it measures 3 7/8" closed. Yes it is a 1st generation. They are really good knives. I believe the dark torched look to the stag was applied after it left the Bulldog Factory.

I suppose it's the angling away posture of the knife that made it look like a peanut to me. Nice one. I'm really fond of the slimline trappers, especially the ones made by GEC.

I agree with older dogs, color very unnatural for a first Generation. I have seen many on E-Bay where someone has stained the stag on Bulldogs to try and imitate burnt stag. ::td:: :x

I was wondering about the dark color, almost didn't bid on for that reason, but it is good to have it confirmed that it is first generation. And you are right about it coming from ebay.

I have the same knife only with a round shield and fighting dogs. It's my favorite knife... so far! Thanks.

DougMac,
You knife is a 2nd generation trapper made in 1991 out of parts left over from the Old Dominion trappers. The round shield is the tip off. Your knife will still be stamped 1985 English Steel.

Here is a poor photo of the three blade Trapper I mentioned awhile ago. The only wear is on the box!

Can anybody point me in the direction of information for taking better photos? This is the best I can do right now.

Nice looking knife Doug. I believe that is antique tan bone.
There are some threads on pictures in the Q&A section that might help with pictures. I struggle with that myself.
