All About Pocket Knives

Hi. I was looking for information on some of my knives. They belonged to my dad and when he passed away I guard his prized collection. I collected a few pocket knives as a child, but my dad always had the nicer knives. Anyhow, I'm looking for some information on these knives

-what year they were produced
-how much they might be worth (I don't think I want to sell them)
-Any additional information about these knives is greatly appreciated, I know very little about them and google has not been cooperative as of yet.

It appears that your dad had great taste in old knives.
Unfortunately it is impossible to date all of your knives from the pictures you posted.
We would need close-up pictures of the individual knives showing the tang stamps (both sides), and other identifying details on the knives.

May I suggest that you take a few moments to sort the knives by brand and then post your new pictures with your questions in a new thread in the proper forum for the brand or style of each knife?

Your photography skills are very good. I wish I could take such good pictures.
Just group them your knives in like brands or the same pattern and it will be easier for people to date the knives and tell you what you have.

Be patient as many people are busy with the holidays and some are traveling, but I do not doubt that you will get plenty of input even through the Holidays.

Congrats on your fine collection. From the looks of his knives, your dad was the kind of man I would have enjoyed meeting.

Thanks for your interest, people! I'll quickly get around to photographing the labels on the blades and the blade quality themselves. I can assure you, the blade quality is near perfect on these knives and the circle remington scout knives are in pristine condition. I'll try to get around to photographing his entire collection (over 1000 knives) this week.

Another welcome to our forum and I must say that you have some interesting knives there.The group of granddaddy barlows are particularly interesting to me anyway.Although not in the best of shape there are a couple on unusual ones.First the one that looks like the blade may have been replaced:I have never seen a Russell barlow with stag scales.They are usually sawn or smooth bone.The other is the lockback barlow;again an unusual specimen.
The other knives are interesting as well but those stuck out to me.

Russell did sell regular and daddy barlows with stag handles. They are very hard to find!

The one pictured above has been re-handled a long time ago. Please note the diameter of the scale pins, compared to the others shown. The replacements are larger, also the blade has been re-pinned.

The other daddy barlow with the lockback was also made with a de-scaler on the back edge of the blade. I have owned both versions.

Russell did sell regular and daddy barlows with stag handles. They are very hard to find!

The one pictured above has been re-handled a long time ago. Please note the diameter of the scale pins, compared to the others shown. The replacements are larger, also the blade has been re-pinned.

The other daddy barlow with the lockback was also made with a de-scaler on the back edge of the blade. I have owned both versions.

They must be exceedingly rare.I would concur that it has been re-handled but definitely a long time ago.Some beautiful wear on that stag.
As for the lockback with de-scaler;I have a Remington granddaddy barlow with such a blade.Apparently that was a pretty popular pattern.
I also look forward to seeing more pictures.

Looks like an opportunity for you to take a few and put together a history of the knife/knives. There are many gentlemen here that can give you much valuable information and sage advice about you knives and I have found that taking their knowledge, responses and efforts and adding to it by researching the knives to be most rewarding. I hope you have many years of enjoyment from these knives as I can see from your images that your father probably had a great time bringing them together in his collection.
