I just realized that readin' AAPK forums is kinda' like readin' the Bible. No matter how many times you read the Word there is always something new to catch your eye! Just like this subject, "Any Kershaw fans out there?" I may not qualify as a fan, yet, but I'm the proud owner of just one. Got this a month or so back, it had been tipped and I couldn't turn it down for $7. Reprofiled the blade and it seems to be a well built knife, even if it is a tactical. Treefarmer

Be very very careful Phil. The Kershaws are so easy to get hooked on. Kinda like knife crack.

That Blackout looks good. How is it to carry?

Jerry it carries well, with the clip I hang it in my summer service shorts and don't worry 'bout losing it when I'm mowing or working around the place. I don't think the Kershaws are near as addictive as a Camillus # 72! I guess I'm just an ol' fogey traditionalist :D . Treefarmer

Phil -- I'm not too fond of just any tacti-cool BUT Sam I am, I do like Kershaw Leeks (and a few other USA made Kershaws)

I'm just a knife crack addict. I couldn't pass up this Black & Blue Kershaw Leek. It goes with my Red & Black Leek. ::facepalm::

They're kind of like tomato and bacon sandwiches.

I think I did about 10 or 12 of these altogether, i'll have to check photobucket and see if I can find pics of the others.

Beautiful edge-candy, fellas!

I am a big fan of Kershaw, as they consistently offer good value in a USA-made blade.

In fact, they may be one of the best values out there - I am often surprised at how reasonably their new offerings are priced.

I don't have anything near as nice as the ones you guys are showing, but I do have a D2 Leek, a Rainbow Leek, a little Centofante-Onion collaboration (just like JR's!), a Black Blur, and a 'mint-in-the-box' Boa … not a huge collection I know, but I really like 'em all …

Oh yeah, I also recently snagged a ZT 0551, which is a straight-up BEAST … does that count?

Thanks guys! :D The Leeks are alot of fun to customize and the handle slabs make 'em feel really good in the hand. One of these days I need to do one to keep for myself. ::dang::

Here's a Kershaw that I've had for a few years now, the Storm II. Model 1475ST, Ken Onion design, made in the USA.
Sandvick stainless steel with the trac-tec inserts in the handle. This thing is a heavy duty TANK of a knife......measures4 3/4" closed with a 3 1/2" partially serrated recurve blade, frame lock, and weighs in at a hefty 5.8 ounces though! A bit hefty for edc, but if the SHTF, this knife is coming with me.
The details on this knife are what I really appreciate...the date stamp is a bonus, the specially machined thumb studs make opening smooth as butter with the slightest flick of the wrist...the jimping on both ends of the handle make for a sure grip in multiple hand positions, and the open frame design lets water or debris fall right through.
Keeps a razor sharp edge, and while I'm not usually a fan of serrations, I've found them to be useful on this knife, they are far enough back so as to allow for plenty of useable non-serrated blade for traditional uses.
The big belly and razor sharp edge have even enabled me to use this knife as a skinner to help with the butchering of the last two deer I was fortunate enough to harvest. Great knife...too bad it's discontinued.

Yeah JR you are right about that. Shortly after I got this knife, i took it camping with me, and realized I'd forgotten the box that had my fixed blade and camp ax in it. I used the Storm II to shave slices of wood from the split logs to use as kindling, the serrations worked perfect for that purpose and I had myself a nice little pile of shaved wood in no time to get my fire going. Wiped the blade off and used it for cutting up my dinner, now that's versatility for ya!

I like that blade profile, Mike. It kinda reminds me of the Boa only the Boa is fatter and has more belly.

Alright, thanks to Jerry's braggin' on his recent pick up of this knife, I had to finally pull the trigger and get one of my own! I opted for the grey handles, just got it in today. Very cool knife, will start carrying it immediately as my work knife and see how she performs! First thing I did was remove the pocket clip....not a big fan of pocket clips and usually take them off right away, don't like how they mess with the appearance of the knife, and I don't generally like having stuff clipped to my trousers.
This knife is sharp as can be right out of the box, and the speedsafe mechanism makes that big ol' wharncliffe just jump right out to attention! I can tell it is just rarin' and ready to start tearing through some boxes, packaging, etc...feels like a real workhorse. Thanks for pushing me over the edge on the one Jerry... ::tu::

I wasn't braggin' Mike but if that's what it takes to nudge you off dead center and onto the dark side, so be it. Easy to understand what's so alluring about them once you get one "in hand". It's a hell of a knife. ::tu::

Edit: BTW Mike. That looks closer to olive drab than gray. What say you? You're the one with it in hand.
