C. Houston Price's guide lists it as "probably by Camillus", c 1920's. The font looks very Camillus-like as well. At that vintage I'd imagine it probably pre-dates the employment of Tom's mom as well as his. I LIKE that knife! Especially the unusual long pull on the sheepfoot ::tu:: ::tu:: .

MM that's a beauty!

Eric
Thanks Eric, I appreciate the info.
You are right, the font & 4 line style sure look like Camillus.
I am sure it does pre-date Tom's moms time at Camillus. IIRC, he said she started sometime aroung the end of WWII.
I may have to send the knife to Tom & have him show it around the people he knows in Camillus & see if it rings a bell with anyone.

Thanks again,
Dale

I will always love a nice whittler! A complex expression of the cutler's skills, it takes more to make one, than almost any other of the usual patterns. Nice interesting ones are showing up here; Dale's Hart, MM's redbones popping up regularly, that North American of knife-nut's, and the Schatts of Bighead and Johnnie. And all the others.
Really enjoying them. I have a few myself, and collected them exclusively for a while, like every other pattern  !
One that eluded me, but I finally scored early this year, is a heavy whittler you see below. Luckily it's in great shape, and fits with my Ulster collection (another of those once-exclusive things I was gonna do to stop spending so much on knives - hopeless! ::doh:: )

these are some beauties guys.

here's another redbone to keep them regular

I feel your pain Charlie, I switch from pattern to pattern, make to make but whenever I switch it seems I spend just as much money on just as many knives as before ::dang::

There are some real beauties here. Thanks everyone for posting 'em !

Charlie, is that Ulster one of them with the big honkin' springs ? What size is that knife ?

Next time you switch, I'm gonna snag one too.

Together, the springs are substantial Fran. They measure .207" across the small blade end, and taper to .189" at the main.
A difference of 19 thousandths; pretty subtle taper!

I agree upnorth, the new serpentines are great lookin' knives. They are very similar in size to the CASE 6380 whittler ::tu::

I think it would/will make a fine whittler...have not yet decided if I will use her or not  I just might have to get another one, or perhaps the series xviii wharncliff serpentine to go along with this one ::tu:: ::tu::

Here's the classic Case trio. I scanned these together for a friend writing an article a couple of years ago.
6308, 6383, and 6380.

I did put the stag on, I built it as a user and EDC it often. I like the edge it takes.

This is a nice pearly sleeveboard whittler made by Wm Rodgers Sheffield. :D s-k
