Thanks Eric, I appreciate the info.
You are right, the font & 4 line style sure look like Camillus.
I am sure it does pre-date Tom's moms time at Camillus. IIRC, he said she started sometime aroung the end of WWII.
I may have to send the knife to Tom & have him show it around the people he knows in Camillus & see if it rings a bell with anyone.

I will always love a nice whittler! A complex expression of the cutler's skills, it takes more to make one, than almost any other of the usual patterns. Nice interesting ones are showing up here; Dale's Hart, MM's redbones popping up regularly, that North American of knife-nut's, and the Schatts of Bighead and Johnnie. And all the others.
Really enjoying them. I have a few myself, and collected them exclusively for a while, like every other pattern !
One that eluded me, but I finally scored early this year, is a heavy whittler you see below. Luckily it's in great shape, and fits with my Ulster collection (another of those once-exclusive things I was gonna do to stop spending so much on knives - hopeless! )

Together, the springs are substantial Fran. They measure .207" across the small blade end, and taper to .189" at the main.
A difference of 19 thousandths; pretty subtle taper!

I think I will put a Fight'n Rooster whittler in here amist these great looking whittlers. This one was rehandled by our very own MM.

Well, all these beautiful whittlers you folks have influenced me to get a S&M whittler, so ... here she is, they refer to it as "timeworn red bone."

Those newer serpentine Schatts are great looking knives Don!! How do you think it will be as a working whittler??

I agree upnorth, the new serpentines are great lookin' knives. They are very similar in size to the CASE 6380 whittler

I think it would/will make a fine whittler...have not yet decided if I will use her or not I just might have to get another one, or perhaps the series xviii wharncliff serpentine to go along with this one

Here's the classic Case trio. I scanned these together for a friend writing an article a couple of years ago.
6308, 6383, and 6380.

Though not as nice as your show, here is a camillus in stag

becuase I whittle with it

and the blade profiles are not common to any other style knife.

What a trio you have there upnorth, classic stuff. And MM, well, what can I say... I think you've got 'em all! Did you put that stag handle on that Camillus? If not, do you know around what year they put that out?

I did put the stag on, I built it as a user and EDC it often. I like the edge it takes.
