It looks like that is what they had in mind.
The back springs were not ground.
I think it was made for a price point and targeted to young boys,
as were many knives in that time frame. I would estimate in to be from the 1950's to early 1960s.

I'm not good at dating anything but Robesons and I'm probably not all that good with them, but 50's to 60's looks about right on that little red Camco.

I was a boy in the 50's and 60's. I remember all those Camco, Imperial, and Colonial boards in retail stores like hardwares and pharmacies.

The general pitch was "$1.29 Your Choice".

Oakwood Ace in Flowery branch GA has some Case in a 50% off display. Including some lacewood handled versions. I was leaning towards the 49 copperhead but then I noticed the barlow was a spear instead of a clip primary, So.....

Pretty new ones guys! I like 'em all, but my preference is for the oldies.
Here's a pretty full old Empire. On closeup, it looks like the Bolster stamp was wearing out. I love being able to magnify these knives with a scanner!!

Even older!! Founded 1876, lasted until 1883.

Here's a nice, full Imperial sheepfoot, and a pre-WWII German made Knox All, a Simmons brand. Simply made, but snappy and sturdy, and good steel. I retired it, but I might carry it again some day!!

That Imperial is a newer knife. Probably not over 40 or 50 years old.
It is a shell handle isn't it?
They are pretty unusual with a sheepfoot blade master.
It took me several years before I ran across the first one.

Two very nice features of the Imperial Barlow;
1- They are not expensive.
2- They have good quality steel in the blades.

You can usually find them by the buckets full at any knife show (or on ebay) for anywhere from $1 to $5.
You can get one of the old things, put an edge on it and it will cut circles around a $20 cheapie from today, and it will out last todays cheapie!
Not bad for an 89¢ knife!
