Here is an old Remington Serpentine pen knife, kind of an uncommon pattern in any brand, which is why I like it.

It's an R7543 with a nice etch.

Here's a knife I had to have when it showed up. It is an R1 and I just figured I had to have the first Remington pattern number. It's not really a very attractive knife but it is in excellent condition.

I bought these two this week. A nice celluloid Remington and a great PAL Cutlery one. I just put the second one here since the PAL knives don't have a home and by my understanding that is what became of the Remington tooling when they quit making knives. I got them from a English fella that used to work the oil fields in the middle east back in the 1970's and 80's. He got them from his American co workers. I'll bring them back home again some day.

1930's Remington wood handled pruner I just came across.

Here's an interesting old knife I just picked up. It's a Remington R3432. I have never owned one of these so when this one came up I had to have an example. The slick black handles are scored their entire length and the scoring extends right through the shield and the birdseye rivets. It's such a eccentric design I had to have one.

This knife is near mint.

Yeah, MB, Remington actually made quite a few patterns of this type of knife. Sometimes the bolsters were scored, sometimes the scoring was done diagonally. I've seen several of them, most often a tickler pattern and they've either been in too poor a shape for me, or too expensive for me, so when I saw this one at a reasonable "Buy it Now" on Ebay, I snapped it up and I'm not disappointed, the pictures don't really do it justice. I don't think this knife was ever sharpened, the etch is frosty clear and the knife is clean inside and out.

Heres a Remington that belongs to a friend of mine, he wants to sell it and doesn't know if its authentic...Any thoughts?

I have several original and reprint Remington catalogs and have not seen this grooving in the handles offered. They probably did not offer it for very long

Here ia a Remington whittler I just got back from a repair job. The tang of the main blade was rounded on one half of the blade where one of the springs wore on it. The other half of the tang had nice square sholders where the other spring rode on it. A small patch job on the bone handle by the front side back spring pin. It's a R3243 pattern. I,m kind of proud of this one.

Here is one of my favorites. A Remington R685 gunstock with nice etching. Beautiful green swirl celluloid handles. Never been sharpened. Hard snap.

Great knives knife-nut, I have a R3245 with sort of crimson celluloid handles that is a favorite of mine (even though it's not in as good a shape as your 3243) so I really appreciate the 3243. It really is an odd pattern with that deeply swedged saber clip blade and whittler construction.

Does your knife have the rounded top edge to the master blade?

remington collector, would you mind giving a more detailed critique of the 1123, I don't really see any glaring problems with it, but, of course, I've never actually owned one. Thanks in advance.

knife-nut, sorry, I'm ashamed to admit that my photograpy skills are non-existent, I only get pictures of knives I buy off of listings.

Here is an R4145 I just picked up. The handles look almost like simulated burl wood. You can barely make out the Remington etch in person.

Interesting old knife Gino, I can only remember Remington using that small bomb shield on knives. If you look back in this thread you will see one I posted (a 395) with the same shield.

Nice! yours is a little (lot) better shape LOL. I love that shield, I would like to see a new knife like GEC put it on a knife again.
