Neat translation, but I think the traditional version is a lot more interesting. ::tu::

Uncle Dave Macon. What a character. I loved
that 'old time' method of banjo playing. I
think it was called 'claw hammer'.

I too prefer the "traditional" version but I thought the translation was neat. Some terminology I was familiar with, some not.

The translation does give a better perspective of what the song is about. I have it my mind that the song is from WWI era.

Uncle Dave Macon did the clawhammer style and sang along, but what he is most noted for is tossing and twirling the banjo around as he sang and played.

Phil, if you're gonna make a good stew, ya gotta stir the pot once in a while, otherwise it'll stick. If ya don't believe me, just ask Miz Joy.

I don't know if you would call this Country Music or not. Maybe more like Texas Rock-a-Billy?? For what ever you may think are the faults of David Allen Coe, I love this album. I love each and every song on it (except maybe for 'The Pumpkin Center Barn Dance'). I love the way it's arranged and his performance. When I still had the album, I played it so much it was just about worn out.

Even if you don't think you have 36 minutes to listen, fire it up anyway and do your surfing in another tab.
