[quote="vikingdog"]Wow Monk, there you go again!

You and Gunstock Jack are spreading stag fever all over the place. Beautiful knives you've been showing. Are you carrying any of them?
I got this #72 Stag,un-serialized to carry, and really like it. It is slimmer than the #73, and it is easier to open.

Really nice piece Monk. I'd like one like that myself. I went back to the early pages in this thread and I see what you mean about Welder Bob and his stag collection. It's hard to look at his photos and not covet thy neighbor's goods!

Ken,I'll try to un-confuse you

---it's about like the difference between the Ford and the Lincoln""simply put"" if you'll notice the little extra, craftsmanship,in the Northfield, vrs. Tidioute, such as pinched bolsters, ringed bolsters, better scale materials ( Stag,Elk,Pearl,Buffalo Horn,Ram)---the Tidioute,is made just as well, just doesn't have the "'EXTRA"" options

________don't know about the Sunfish / Sleeveboard critters, someone else, will have to do some ""un-confusing"" for ya' on them_____________Monk

Not sure if this is the right place to ask. So if this gets moved thats ok with me.
I have forgeten the diffrance between the Tidioute and the Norhfield UN-X-LD. lets take the sleevboard.
Both 3"
Both 1095 Carbon Steel Blades
Both nickel silver bolsters
Now is the BABY SUNFISH the same as the SLEEVEBOARD ?? (both 3" 2 blades)
Unconfused me please...

Well...I hate to bring back some confusion, but here's a photo from GEC's new release
page showing a Great Eastern Cutlery #73 sporting the acorn shield and having a
1095 carbon steel blade.
Not sure about this new option, but there it is. Greg at TSA Knives has a very informative
blog entry with some info about this new option. (Thanks Greg.)

Not to mention that #73 in the last picture is a fixed blade....
That is the first time they have strayed from the GEC Brand = Stainless rule (and I don't like it). But the rule still applies for folders (for now).
But, it is not really a science. Just learn the pattern numbers and what they look like; then all the numbers will generally make sense. But if they make more exceptions they will have to expand the numbering schema.
Brand - Frame - Master Blade Type - Number of Blades - Year Made

The Mailman was kind enough to drop these off, today !!!!!!! These were my first single blade #73's and there really is not much differnce ( size wise ) in them and the #72 Lockback. The #73 pattern, has a droppoint/skinner main blade and the #72 pattern has the regular clip, main blade. I really like them both, with two blades and single blades. I do think ,I prefer the ""Long-Pulls"'___maybe a little easier to open, with those strong back-springs ??? And if I was carrying a two blade, maybe have a belt sheath.

To further qualify:
Titusville Iron Works = 1095

There are some 420SS special factory orders; but they do not have the Cyclops Steel Works tang stamp.

Well that confused me too. #127 ??
(217 or 27)
Here is where I picked that number from.
I know this is my photo of my OPEN HOUSE knife. I was at the factory and picked up the last 2.
You can make this photo larger and look for your self.
I also have this photo of a GREEN 2006 knife I got but can't find the knife. ???
I am thinking I make a lot of errors in my knife records.
Perhaps I have been OLD for a long time????{it's the meds I am on)....

to slow down the Allhimers thing....
Confussed Ken...

Ohhhhh, my "Octogenarian Brothers" it might be time to put away all the sharp objects in a safe place..........Bark Moss Green is a jigged bone and these are acrylics which were made for a GEC Open House that consisted of six pieces........simple go back to pages 1 and 2 to see the set that was posted. Beasts me as to the colors and count......

In 2006 they made 250 of each pattern/brand. So 250 Tidioute #23's; 250 Northfield #23's; 250 GEC #23's; then the same for #73's. They were a little under or a little over on some (that is why the non-serialized are so rare from 2006).
But since the serial numbers are for the pattern/brand, not the handles, it is understandable that you could have 11 knives late in a run that were high serial numbered. 2006 was the only year they were numbered like this.
