Some really nice Barlows being posted here. A great pattern.

Her is one imported by John Barlow from Sheffield in the late 1700's. I have to admit it is one of my favorite knives!! Sure wish I knew everywhere it has been and who handled it.

It's good to see that old beauty again. I do believe that other than an Indian artifact or two, that is the oldest knife I've ever had the pleasure of handling. Considering its age, it's in remarkable condition. ::tu::

jerryd6818 wrote:John, not only do you have good taste in knives, (I especially like the I-XL and the Northfield SFO) you have good taste in bourbon. That Bulleit is good stuff. On my top five list.
Thanks Jerry, the Bulleit is quite good and my go to bourbon. Here is a new Queen Barlow I picked up this week, they have done a great job with this knife, may even replace my Northfield as EDC for awhile.

Tom,
That is especially fine. I love the stamping, the shape of the blade and the beautiful bone handles. Does it still have any spring action?

John, nice looking queen, the color of the bone looks really good.

Beechtree, the knife is really tight and has really good snap action. The fit and finish of the knife is really nice as well. Better in these ways that most new knives today. ::tu::

This nice old Scrade showed up today, blade has a fair amount of wear but still very sharp. I think tang stamps are from 1910 to the 40's.

Tom, that is wonderful to hear about the snap and overall tightness of the knife. It really is a treat to see it. Here is one made much later, well over 100 years later, Remington 1921-1924.

I like the stamping on old Barlows so when I saw this one on ebay I had to get it.
The mark side bolster is stamped NEW/HOLLAND and the pile side bolster just says BARLOW.
Made by Utica, but I don't know the date, anyone got an approximate date on this old Barlow?

Of course I could not leave well enough alone, I had to add my own improvements to this one, the stag handles.

Dale, love the job you did on the Utica, nice work.
Here are a few recent additions to the Barlow collection, a 64 to 69 Case that will be a EDC for me and a Robeson strawberry bone.

This is a new "Old Barlow."
I was talking to Charlie (upnorth) a couple seeks ago and he told me about the new "Ancient Barlow" he had made by GEC. He said it was patterned after a 200 year old Sheffield Barlow. He said they were often scratted and I mentioned that was one thing I had not done yet was scrat a handle.
Knowing I am a Barlow guy Charlie said, "Good, I will send you one and you can send me pictures after you scrat it."

This is how the Ancient Barlow arrived:

I was taken aback by how nice the knife looked when it arrived, frankly it looked so nice I didn't want to mess it up. I have been EDCing it for the last week, trying to decide just how I will scrat the handles. I haven't decided exactly how I will do it yet, but a germ of idea has flickered through my mind a couple times. Now if the idea will just land and take roots I can get do some scratting.

Thanks Charlie for another awesome Barlow! ::tu::

Dale you have your work cut out for you to improve upon the looks of that knife.

I will say I have confidence you can do it and I hope you'll return to this thread to post the after pictures. :)
