Maybe this is where I got my information, from another site, quote:

"Camillus introduced the "SWORD BRAND" line in 1906. Numerous
styles of folding and fixed blade knives were offered. The
early "SWORD BRAND" knives were stamped on the blade. Later
knives were blade etched with the crossed swords logo.

I had not seen that post Lyle. It must have been on B/F.

Tom emailed me yesterday and is supposed to call me this evening.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances I will ask him about it then.

It seems obvious to me from the knife you posted that they did stamp the blades at some point in time.
Just when that was and for how long, I haven’t a clue as yours is the only one I have seen with that stamp.

Scout Knife stamped on the shield. Sword Brand stamped on the mark side of the main blade, 4-line Camillus stamp on the pile side. Pre-WWII????

..jerry, I've got the same knife, except mine has the compass, same shield, only the master is 4 line stamped, and I remember someone posting that back when all blades on a knife were 4 line(1914-1941) they didn't stamp tool blades like a punch, can opener, etc, so I'm betting yours is the same vintage or a little later than mine which is supposed to 1914-scouts started in 1910, and this was the first Camillus model of the scout!!.............. ::tu:: ............

A #70 compared to a #72. Introduced as part of the Prestige Line in '73 it was called the 'Hiker'. They changed the name of the #70 to 'Woodcarver' shortly before the pattern was discontinued in '82 or '83.

Your eyes are just fine Tommy. The coping blade was broken and the shield was missing. I paid $1.35 for it (plus $3.00 shipping). I had a spare coping blade so I sent it to WB (whitebuffalo58) who worked his magic on it and it's now my carry knife.

Tommy, when you say handles are you talking about the entire frame (bolsters + liners + handles, etc) or are you talking about the scales (handles, covers)?
