travman and thawk-thanks for your input on this knife!-the #238 on the catalog page sure looks like what i've got-if it's 1928 vintage, looks like to me it would be the 4 line stamp,though, instead of the 3 line stamp this one has. another thing that's kinda wierd is that the oval shield is not in a recess, it's just pinned to the bone-the bone in that area is pretty flat, so it's not noticeable, i had the knife for a long time before i realized it wasn't in a recess.thawk wrote:Well done Trav! I like the frame of this knife and feel of it in my hand. Since I have so many #72s already, it would be fun to find one of these as well. Mike said he thinks these were built on the same frame as the #72.
Camillus did make a #14 from the 1940s up until at least the late 1970s. It is listed as 3-3/8 inch serpentine jack. But the pictures shown in the catalog show it to be a standard jackknife with both blades on the same end, not on opposite ends.
Mike, I can't tell too well from the pictures, are these bone handles? Could this knife possibly be pre-World War II?

I seldom mention purchase price but y'all need to know what a bargain these knives are. The most I've paid for one was $21,50 (May 11 2016). The least was $3,27 & $2,37 shipping (4-9-19).
