I just got this one . the handle has been patched. pm me if anybodys interested in it.

I didn't know Robeson made a cotton sampler, but apparently they did. Even more surprising was to find one in the Ozarks.

The pattern number is 612312...I'm thinking pre 1920 ?

Yes, they did, and I've seen precious few of them during all the years I've collected Robesons.

In fact, yours now makes THREE!! that I've seen.

I think the blade is a bit short, as I think the end is not quite right.

But, that is a beautiful and rare pattern.

Tremendous job Charlie. I have driven by that factory many times and didn't even know what it was. That was in the late 60's, early 70's.

Charlie, would you mind if I "copy and paste" that article? Giving you credit of course? I will await your reply.

I got to see Mike's beavertail and talk to him in person Friday.He has some amazing knives,and knows a good one when he sees it.I enjoyed myself and wished i could have came back Saturday.

Congrats to Mike and Charlie for being able to get those knives.

Certainly, one of the largest Robeson display cases I've ever seen for sale.

Here's one for you Charlie although it's not a folder.Saw this at an antique shop last week and the blade was covered with rust;enough so I couldn't see the stamp.Didn't have a price on it so the guy at the shop said he would find out and let me know.
He called the other day and I went over and picked it up.Cleaned off the blade with a pencil first and then hit it with some 220 grit(used)sandpaper and up pops the stamp! You can still read where it says,RED PIG on the stamp.Not bad for $8.

Very nice. Now, you need a Robeson Red Pig postcard to go with that. There just happens to be two on Ebay right now, but they are ending soon. They look like very nice cards and I already have examples of both.

Here's an interesting little sleeveboard I picked up today. Robeson Shuredge(in italics)#323617 w/ black pyraline handles, nickel silver liners, pins, bolsters and bail. Also has PATENT APP. FOR on the pen blade. Shield appears to be brass or atleast a gold colored base metal. Not sure what they were applying the patent to, but I wondered if it might be an early pocketeze. That's just a guess, but the tangs do sit fairly flush with the liners.

Charlie can provide more info, but that appears to be a quite rare Robeson PERMALUBE knife. The bronze colored shield indicates that it has the bronze bearing surfaces on the backsprings, therefore never requiring that the owner "oil the joints". This was said to be an improvement on the MASTERCRAFT line where the idea was similar but the knives had the bronze bearings on the blade tangs not on the springs. On the MASTERCRAFT knives the bearings would fall off leaving an uneven tang.

Under loop and light, this is definitely a Permalube!! Not as nice as those pearl handled knives in the aforementioned thread, but you can easily make out the brass/bronze caps on the ends of the backspring.
Reckon it'd be safe to assume that the "patent app. for" might indicate an earlier release of these?
Anyway, i've said it before and i'll say it again, sometimes ya just get lucky! That's all part of what makes this hobby so much fun!!

It is what it is.

Great pick up.

Most, if not all, the MasterCraft and Perma-Lube knives' pattern numbers ended in the 600 range.

The shield should be bronze.

In all the years of collecting, i've only acquired one Perma-Lube knife.

They are much more rare than their MasterCraft counterparts.
