Oh well, it would be to good to be true. I remember back in 2007 when dealers/distributors were unhappy with Great Eastern Cutlery's sales dept. It had to do with a lack of available knives for new dealers and members of the GEC sales staff selling knives on eBay while the established dealers not being able to get new knives. It made for some unhappy dealers and probably accounts for the production numbers being off a bit from what they have posted. They took care of the problem - no more desk drawer sales.

I've decided that this might be my favorite so far, I really like the Clip Blade as the secondary blade. I have not seen a yellow GEC that was for me yet...or at least I don't have one.

I posted this YELLOW one for you JUSTOLD52 though:

The last time I took a pic of this knife I was too quick with it and didn't begin to give this knife the chance to shine (because it does).
This knife is special to my collection because of the people that got it for me and how they got it.

It was at the Queen knife show last year. I was checking out all the knives when I walked over to one of the tables and spotted this beauty. I really loved the knife, but me being too cheap, I passed on it.
So a few hours later, my Mom asked me if there was one knife that I wish I would have bought and which one would it be. Well immediately I told her about the little GEC that I loved.
After we got home I forgot about the whole thing. A few months later my B-day rolled around, I opened a box which lead too a tube, (we all know what that means) and inside was that little UN-X-LD
sunfish. I knew I had seen it before. After asking where they had bought it, I remembered the Queen show and the little sunfish that stood out to me so well.

Now it's a proud member of my collection.

Pics still aren't that great, but I'm tryin'.

GEC calls it a Furtaker Muskrat. Case calls it a Hawbaker Muskrat. I call it the latest lust of my life. Daddy want!!

Great choice Johnny.

Very nice Johnnie! ::tu::

I started out as a Case collector 20 + years ago but my aim thus far has been only on the GEC knives ::tu::

Nothing against Case but GEC seems to serve EVERYONES purpose.

Hey Marty,
I know exactly what your talking about, I loved Case.
I had one of their John Deere stockman's, it was a perfect EDC for work, one day my Mom asked to borrow a knife, I had two on me, but I handed her the John Deere, a few seconds later I heard her sigh,
the blade had slipped and cut her thumb, it cut clean through the nail, which is still not growing back right.
I'm very disappointed to say the least, ever since I've been packing a GEC around.

But from what I hear, Case is getting their act together. ::shrug::

No Bob, you have great taste. ::tu::

When I'm about to buy a knife I always look at the overall length, it can be a real deal breaker for me, I love a new EDC, but I hate something huge in the pocket.
But when we where at GEC I saw this knife and fell in love, I didn't even take the length into consideration, but when I compared it to my 73's I was kinda surprised at the length.
It wasn't until I had carried it in my pocket for awhile that I truly fell in love.

I believe I'll sharpen it today and make it an official EDC. ::nod::

WelderBob, great looking knives Muskrat Man did a great job ::tu:: ! I think you and Johnny are on to someting with the Furtakers I'm starting to want one REAL bad. I wish I had one 25 years ago when I was running my trapline after school and working neighbors farm then spending the rest of the evening skinning furbearers with my old Case Delrin Trapper and my Camco Stockman as backup  .

WelderBob, if you don't mind telling about how much did it cost to Stag the 73 and is that stag or burnt stag?

Thank's guys it's hard not to like GEC's...good point Johnny on size and weight, the 73 single blade is a perfect carry knife..IMO...the 53 and 54 pattern's are a bit bigger for my pockets and since I always carry a large one hander weight is an issue. So I use a pouch sheath by Bullard...it rides high and tight yet easy to access...I love it... :D. Buckeye the stag on the furtaker is natural Sanbar...on the 73 it's Red deer stag (European I believe) left natural. Both came from AKS Knife Supply (good folk's) the Red was 20.00 a pair...Kaleb and I usually do some trading so I can't say for sure what it cost to rehandle...but I think his fee is 30 to 40 to install new scales. I believe he posted a tutorial a while back on installing scales on this 73 or another one I'd sent him.

WelderBob, you not only have great taste in cutlery, you have great taste in sheaths too! I have a couple of his sheaths and they are the best in the west. I love 'em. Johnny, here's the link: Home - D.M. Bullard Leather Mfg. Hmmm. That should've copied as a link. Well, that is his website. GJ
