tongueriver wrote:I am loving all these knives; thanx, guys, and special thanks to ZZ for the Western info. I just got this early 1960s R.H.Ruana. The blade is 7 13/16" so it is a beast for a sticker. The flapover sheath is also in tiptop condition. The elk antler inserts are starting to show some knice patina.

If I am allowed to say Bad Ass... That is what I am sayin'
If not I'll call that a freaky cool knife.
BigBore... Can you share the link? I am impressed w/ that knife for the cost. It'll be an easy sell for a 7-10 buck profit... retail.

Thanks BigBore.
Those are the type of knife that I can easily sell here. They're decent "truck knives" for beating around, and they are inexpensive.
Pretty good lookin' to boot!

Now ya see Charlie, that's the problem with this web site. I wasn't even thinking about Buck fixed blades until you showed that beauty and now I feel a stirrin' in the wanna region of my brain. There's just something about those smooth black handles and the lines of the blades......... I think I'll just go lie down and wait for it to go away.

I know the feelin'! I tried sleepin' it off but as you can see..............it didn't work.

Here's a knife I don't see mentioned much on AAPK. It's an ESEE 4. Not the prettiest knife I own but I've been very impressed with the quality and the razor edge that's easy to maintain. (Good ole' 1095 blade steel )

I am not much of a fan of those tactical/utilitarian style knives. Never really have been.
I suppose this is because I am not a woods/hunting kind a guy nor a farmer/rancher so I prefer the shiny, slippery, flowing kind of look that almost all of the other knives posted here have.
They remind me of dressing up on Sunday.
Those Bucks have that special kind of look. I am surprised!

Dittos on the quality of ESEE knives. My oldest son is a fan of tacticals (like Spyderco) and an avid hunter/fisherman/outdoorsman. He carries an ESSE 4 daily when not at work. He keeps hounding me about getting one for myself. I think I'll put it on my Christmas list, so he can buy me one!

I blame Old Hunter, but I had to have these in 5160 steel and brass.

I posted these 2 elsewhere but they might have not been seen by many. A Northwoods "Compact Utility" 7.5" from Dave Shirley days. The other is a beautiful 9.5" Puukko by Bulgarian knife smith Todor Hristov.

Since some weeks i think about a chute knife.
I want one but it should not be a hard working knife, more a light version for EDC.
You know that, you make plans, look around the net ..... despair about prices ....
And today at a small nearby knife-show this one lay at a table (bargain)
Maker is Franz Weinmüller
Happy.

Beautiful knife ! but it does look heavy duty, not "more a light version" that you mention. Heavy duty is good with this pattern.
