That looks like a knife made by Ithaca Gun Works(Track Knives) in the 1970's. Compare the blade shape to this Track folder. I have. Look closely at the blade of your knife near the tang and see if there is a symbol there that looks like a bear paw made up of zeros close together. If the number is stamped on the tang look on the opposite side for the paw stamp.It was usually stamped very faintly and wore away easily.

I am more of a pocket knife guy, but I do have some fixed blades. This one, I found in a little store in Oklahoma over 20 years ago and I had the sheath made later. I think it was a "kit knife" where you bought the parts and assembled it. However, I could be wrong about it. I googled the maker's stamp and found nothing. What do you think?

I don't know what the steel is and the handle is a green colored wood. The blade is 3" and the overall length is 7 1/2". Nicely balanced and the handle is comfortable.

I am still hung up on carbon steel so I carry a Schrade 153UH

Here are two of my fixed blade hunting knives.

First off is my beloved Schrade with I bought just before they went out of business. Love that knife!
Then a Remington knife I got as a gift. Perhaps not the sexiest out there but a good solid utilitarian knife. I keep it in my backpack and use it for all heavy tasks, splinting wood, cutting legs off of moose and such. Good rubber handle which doesn´t get slippery due to blood and rain and what not. Very easy to keep sharp and not a knife I am afraid to use or abuse.

I don't have any of the Camillus Remingtons (yet); that looks like a highly functional knife.
Here is a 1932-1940 DuPont Remington Rh-73. The deer scene is on the 'wrong' side of the blade, if one believes the Remington Sheath Knife bible by D.Y. Grimm (what a great book) (?). The sheath (not shown) is slightly tired with a couple stitches out but the knife appears to be un-used.

They were made by Jet-Aer Corporation who market knives under the G-96 brand.Their main products are high tech lubricants for the aerospace industry. Here are some of their folders.

Thanks gents, appreciate the comments. Actually it's not mine, but I snapped some pics of it when I was doing some restoration work on it for the owner. But the thing was so beautiful I couldn't resist. Mammoth or Mastodon ivory too. Love this knife.
Great Bark River Checksix, looks great in the aloe. You're right and this basic design I've seen on lots of knives. Classic, beautiful, and popular. No wonder there are so many out there like it. Great shape, feel, look, and fit in your hand.
