A beaudy from Reaudy, INDEED! I love Ruana knives, including those made more recently by Vic, Mike and Mark Hangas. They didn't give up a thing when they took the reins. And one thing is for sure; NOBODY could fake one.

The Busse Combat "Axe" Hammer came in... not pretty like the Ruana's but man! this is one helluva stout knife, meant for super hard use. Blade looks to be Cerakoted... Blade is INFI steel. Really nice Kydex sheath (for Kydex anyway). Should be a great companion on my camping trips.
0.170" Blade Thickness
1-1/2" Blade Width
12 1/8" Overall Length
6 1/2 " Blade Length
Handle - Desert Storm
INFI Steel with Desert Sage coating

That old-time 1095 will definitely get sharp. The H-15 started off the blocks in 1958 and never looked back for a long time. Nice sheath, too.

Just pulled this one off the production line, it's another homemade O-1, 3 3/4" blade loveless style with sheep horn handle. And one of my hand stitched 8 ounce leather sheaths and it is still available. I've slowed down a little, only made about 20 knives last year. But I have another one started. thanks for looking,

Terry

Finally got my Bowie. After reading Bagwell's book, I've been wanting one of these. This one is the Laredo San Mai III. I picked it because of the higher build standard as this one comes from Japan and has better materials and sheath. Snagged it for $305.00 delivered off of the Bay.
For scale, the Medford folder is 7.7" long.

Congratulations Dave. You now have what I believe is the standard by which all other production Bowies are to be judged.

Thanks Will and Garry!
Build quality of the knife is excellent. Not sure who the Japanese maker is but they do really good work. I will probably get a custom sheath made for it, as the leather sheath that comes with it is pretty middle of the road. I've had a sheath repair done recently by Bob Schrap up in Wisconsin. I'll see him in March at the Janesville knife show and will talk to him about what my options are for functional sheath, for a knife this size.
This thing is wicked sharp! Including the 4.5" on the top clip. It's a little heavy in-hand but that aside, it is still really responsive and quick to maneuver. I cannot fathom coming up against this weapon in the hands of a skilled user. A commoner would be toast, in the blink of an eye! Wow!

Terry, your latest knife looks like it would be just perfect for moving through a deer rapidly and in style - nice! OH
Dave, very nice looking Bowie - when you get some photos of it at different angles please post. Love the looks of a Bowie.

thanks for all the nice comments fellows, you guys are too nice! I do like the looks of rams horn when done, it's kind of a bitch to find any that is straight enough for knife scales. Love the Bowie Dave, how thick is the blade material? and is it stainless steel or high carbon? It looks like quality through and through.

OH and Terry,
Will do on the photos at different angles. The knife is made by Hattori, Seki Japan. This one is the VG-1 San Mai III steel, so the core is VG-1 which I understand to be okay for toughness and edge retention and then it is laminated with another steel. Apparently VG-1 San Mai III is a proprietary steel made by Takefu Special Steel for CS/Hattori. The specs are as follows...
Blade Thickness = 0.3125" (5/16")
Blade length = 10-1/2"
OAL = 15-5/8"
Black Linen Micarta handle = 5.19" long
Weight = 16.3 ounces
Terry, knowing that Rams horn naturally curls, it makes sense it is hard to find a straight piece.

Ivoryman: Congratulations. To me your knife defines the word "sleek." There is not a molecule out of place.
