Thanks, it is an older model but I am not certain of the age. I would suspect 1970s era, but basser may know better.

I recently found this and would love to hear more about it. It's a little over 3" long closed. It looks like one of the previous owners scarred it by doing the bonehead, heated pin test to see if it was plastic. In any case it's a nice little knife. cheers

On a recent trip to Omaha, my friend brought out a little Canoe - about 3" long closed. It was quite cruddy but had a solid snap. When he handed it to me he asked what the shield indicated. A little oil on my fingertip rubbed off some dirt and revealed the two Kissing Cranes! Now here is my question. On the tang stamp on the large blade one side has the number 2929XVII. Opposite are two "tiny" Kissing Cranes, ROBIKLAAS and below that - SOLINGEN. The main blade is almost a wharncliff and the small one a pen. A single backspring does the work for both blades. The fit of the bolsters to the dark jigged bone scales is smooth and tight. Someone in the past used one bolster for a tack hammer and the small blade lost a tiny bit off the tip, but otherwise this little guy cleaned up pretty good. I didn't get to take pictures but with the description I've given, can this group give us a ballpark age and value.

It is a 1978 mini canoe worth around $45 mint.

Let's see if I can resurrect this thread with the few R. Klaas knives I own. An identical sleeveboard made an appearance in this thread six years ago, so I felt it was safe to post another one after so long.

The two stag knives are duplicates from my EDC pile. I have safe queens (that are probably better-looking, honestly) but I'd have to go digging to find them. So I'm giving you the working knives instead.

Thanks, basser5! The sleeveboard was so nice when I got it that I resisted carrying it. However, at some point I figured life's too short and slipped it into the watch pocket. It's got even more patina now and the big master spear (which seems almost oversized relative to the knife) is still shaving-sharp to this day. It regularly gets toted these days, especially to complement a larger knife on the belt or in the LFP.

I'm new to the site and the extent of my knife collecting is that I carry a Spyderco pocket knife and have a Benchmade Bushcrafter for camping. I came across this Klaas knife and have searched online but have only found examples that have a kissing crane logo and don't have the sawtooth back. This one is marked ROB T KLAAS Germany on one side and has a KLAAS logo and Solingen on the other. Any info and if any value would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you

It looks brand new, not just NOS. It's marked Solingen, so I'm hopeful that it is actually made (and assembled) in Germany
It also looks well made. I assume that it is a contract knife with another manufacturer, but I'm not sure at all.

Any thoughts?

I'm not real familiar with Klaas, but I think it is real, made in Solingen, sometime around 2012-2016.
If you go to the web page printed on the box, using the WAYBACK machine, there are several versions of the klaas web page between 2012 and April 2016. The pictures are gone, but the text remains. After that date, the page disappears. (http://www.robert-klaas.de)

SOLINGEN is on both the tang stamp and the box. ( not "SOLINGEN STEEL" like Frost does)

here are my 2 the coal miner is my EDC and the fixed blade i jus recently picked up i had some nice ones along with around 65 very nice vintage klaas that were stolen in 2008 i jus recently started all over im new here guys im lookin at some nice’ns fellas and learnin alot

Here is an older KC, has seen some significant use but still a "Klassic Klaas".
